Leonte

Leonte is a former companion of Jeong-woo who betrays Arthia and rises within Cheonghwado. Known as Storm Bringer, he combines storm magic with stolen and borrowed powers while pursuing an incomplete Philosopher's Stone. His schemes help turn the competition for the stone into open war, but his dependence on resources he cannot fully control leaves him exposed to Bahal and finally to Yeon-woo.

Biography

From trusted friend to betrayer

Leonte once stood close enough to Jeong-woo to be considered a trusted friend, then joined the betrayal that destroyed Arthia and stabbed him through the heart. He carried Jeong-woo's Mythical Dragon Neidan into his later career as a Cheonghwado executive, converting intimacy into a source of stolen power. Because Yeon-woo learns of that treachery through his brother's record, Leonte becomes more than a rival faction leader: he is a surviving participant in the wound Yeon-woo came to avenge. The failed Philosopher's Stone

Leonte and Bild harvested player energy into Quintessence while researching the Philosopher's Stone, treating other people as material for a device that would secure his position. When the stone vanished, Bahal's suspicion and Leonte's desperation helped ignite war between their factions. Later analysis explains why Leonte's project could not succeed: he understood the stone chiefly as a container for magic power and lacked the source needed to complete it, so increasingly brutal sacrifices could not repair the flaw in his method. Storm Bringer's last battle

Badly burned by Bahal and disbelieved by his own allies, Leonte entered his final confrontation with half his face melted and his ambitions collapsing. Sword God's defensive magic and loaned Gungnir let him amplify the Mythical Dragon Neidan into a storm that consumed Bahal's Fire Lightning, but the attack was unstable, costly, and indiscriminate. While Leonte focused on overpowering Bahal, Yeon-woo struck from behind, beheaded him, drained the Neidan's remainder, and collected his soul. (Chapters 82, 120, 130–134)

Appearance and personality

Leonte is a battle-hardened man whose most distinctive later feature is the severe burn left by Bahal: one side of his face is melted and his body carries the evidence of his escape. The injury makes his already threatening presence more ragged and exposes how far his position has deteriorated before his final fight. (Chapter 82)

He is ambitious, secretive, resentful, and willing to betray allies when advancement appears possible. His pride as a high-ranking Cheonghwado fighter survives even when no one believes his explanation for the missing stone. That refusal to relinquish his dream gives him dangerous resolve, but it also narrows his judgment until he stakes everything on borrowed defenses, stolen energy, and an attack he cannot safely control. Abilities and powers

Storm Bringer

Leonte's storm magic earns him the name Storm Bringer. Fueled by the Mythical Dragon Neidan, his magical tempest can consume Bahal's Fire Lightning and convert the clash into a much larger destructive event. The technique is powerful enough to threaten the surrounding battlefield, but its scale is also a weakness: Leonte cannot precisely contain the explosion, and maintaining it rapidly consumes the borrowed reservoir on which it depends. (Chapter 132)

Stolen and borrowed reinforcement

The Mythical Dragon Neidan supplies Leonte with Jeong-woo's accumulated power, while Sword God's magic provides barriers, strengthens Leonte, and hinders Bahal. Gungnir adds a decisive penetrating attack. None of these advantages is fully his own: the Neidan is finite, the defensive spell comes from an ally, and Gungnir is loaned. Their combination can briefly push Leonte near a much stronger opponent, but losing control or support collapses that advantage. (Chapters 120, 130–133, 137)

Quintessence research

Leonte helps create Quintessence by collecting energy from sacrificed players and attempts to use that work toward a Philosopher's Stone. The process demonstrates technical knowledge of stored magic power, but not mastery of the stone's true mechanism. His model lacks a self-sustaining source, so additional energy produces an incomplete tool rather than the enduring engine he wants. (Chapters 50, 192)

Relationships

• Jeong-woo: Leonte begins as Jeong-woo's trusted friend, betrays him, and takes his Mythical Dragon Neidan. That theft powers Leonte's later rise and final battle.
• Yeon-woo: Yeon-woo hunts Leonte as one of Arthia's betrayers, kills him during his fight with Bahal, and absorbs both the remaining Neidan power and Leonte's soul.
• Bahal: Bahal is Leonte's rival within the forces pursuing the Philosopher's Stone. Suspicion becomes an ambush and then the duel in which Leonte spends his remaining resources.
