Kim Bum-seung

Kim Bum-seung is an F-rank returner whose family disappears during the day of the beginning. His decade-long search for them becomes a desire for revenge against Sesha's family, allowing Zeus to use him as an Apostle and puppet in an attack on Yeon-woo.

Biography

Hope turns into a god's instrument

Bum-seung keeps entering gates despite ridicule over his F rank because he hopes the family lost during the day of the beginning may still be alive. Having witnessed the ark and the beings pursuing it, he eventually blames Sesha's family for the disaster and hides for ten years while approaching her. Zeus selects that grievance as the basis for an Apostleship, descends through Bum-seung, and attacks Yeon-woo rather than risking his true body. Yeon-woo defeats them together and pulls Bum-seung's soul into his shadow, reducing the revenge he built his life around to another captive spirit. (Chapters 701, 705–712)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Bum-seung a detailed ordinary appearance. During Zeus's descent, his eyes glow bright blue like jasper and a dark-blue shadow rises behind him while his voice overlaps with the god's deeper one. He is persistent enough to endure years of low status and gate work, but grief hardens that persistence into secrecy and blame, making him susceptible to Zeus's promised power. (Chapters 701, 706, 708)

Abilities and powers

Bum-seung's personal hunter capabilities remain limited by his F rank. His principal power comes from serving as Zeus's Apostle: Zeus can temporarily descend into his body, overlay his voice, alter his eyes, and wield divine power through the Channel. This is borrowed rather than independent strength. Yeon-woo notes that the manifested Zeus is far easier to destroy than the god's true body, and defeating the descent also leaves Bum-seung's soul vulnerable to capture. (Chapters 706–712)
