Hel

Hel is a demon of death from Niflheim and the younger sister of Fenrir and Jörmungandr. Her interest in Yeon-woo develops into both political support and exuberant personal devotion, leading her to fight beside him and later represent a wider association of death deities.

Biography

Niflheim watches the bearer of darkness

Hel is the only Niflheim demon said to have watched Yeon-woo closely before the society commits itself to him. Because his connection to death and the Black King's darkness overlaps with her domain, her interest helps prompt Fenrir to inspect him personally; Skuld's prophecy linking Yeon-woo to Ragnarok supplies Niflheim with a broader political reason to cooperate despite internal doubts about his future. A fan club joins the battlefield

When Yeon-woo fights the dragons of light, Hel descends with Niflheim and destroys an incoming Breath attack with a forceful thrust. She openly identifies herself as the leader of a fan club devoted to him, then fights alongside Fenrir and Jörmungandr as their society enters the allied force. Her infatuation is comic and disruptive, but her timely intervention has a direct military consequence: it protects Yeon-woo and expands his side's strength. (Chapters 648–649)

Death deities gather around a successor

In the reconstructed past, Hel receives Yeon-woo at Niflheim as the prophesied successor of the Black King and represents the assembled gods and demons of death. Their judgment that he is trustworthy follows the traces of darkness revealed through his Sky Wings and confrontation with the Heavenly Demon; Hel therefore opens the route to the sleeping king. Much later, she supports Yeon-woo's marriage in a sincere letter to Edora, showing that admiration has become protective goodwill rather than a demand for possession. (Chapters 671–673 and 856)

Appearance and personality

Hel manifests as a striking woman who can fly on dark wings. In relaxed settings she lounges while applying elaborate nail polish, but in battle her presence is forceful enough to intercept dragon Breath. Her flushed face, rough breathing, and explosive excitement around Yeon-woo sharply contrast with the composed posture she initially assumes while representing the death deities.

She is impulsive, theatrical, competitive, and openly obsessive, especially when another follower claims greater closeness to Yeon-woo. Nevertheless, her actions are not purely selfish: she protects him in battle, guides him as a formal representative, and wishes Edora happiness because she does not want Yeon-woo to remain alone. Abilities and powers

Hel's divine domain is death, creating a natural affinity with the Black King's successor and placing her among the association of gods and demons who serve death across society boundaries. She can manifest through Niflheim's descent, fly, project enough force with a hand thrust to erase an incoming Breath attack, and participate in combat against multiple dragons of light. These feats show substantial direct power, but the scoped chapters do not define a named technique, resource cost, or complete personal arsenal. (Chapters 545–546 and 648–649)

Her authority is also institutional: she represents the gathered death deities, leads their pledges, and opens a portal toward the Black King's sleeping place. This authority depends on their shared recognition of Yeon-woo and does not make every death god her subordinate in all circumstances; Azrael openly contests her precedence. By the latest Hel-centered material, she remains active and capable, while the later rewind reverses the wedding sequence without establishing a separate injury or death for her.
