Garmr

Garmr, called the Mad Dog, is Bifrost's commander, Vivasvat's first superior and companion, and a dissident against both Asgard and the movement that turns him into Allforone.

Biography

The commander behind the drunken mask

Garmr introduces herself as Vivasvat's direct superior while drinking in daylight and needling the uncertain recruit. The frivolity disguises an exacting commander: Bifrost looks disorderly but executes calculated missions, while Garmr leads with two axe-like swords and makes the greatest contribution to Asgard's victory over Olympus. She recognizes the pressure beneath Vivasvat's quiet manner and teaches him that power creates responsibility because even good intentions affect others. Her distrust of Asgard sharpens when its recruiters and Valkyries intrude on Bifrost. (Chapters 804–805)

Bifrost rejects a massacre

When Asgard and Olympus order Bifrost to attack a farm containing civilians and hostages, Garmr rejects the mission's human cost. She chooses to rescue the villagers and confronts Urd after the Valkyrie kills one of her soldiers. Garmr matches Urd in a divine clash but orders Vivasvat to save civilians while Bifrost opens an escape path. Her soldiers also despise divine oppression and know Vivasvat is the Heavenly Demon's son. Garmr escapes with him and establishes a refugee community that becomes a liberation movement's base. (Chapters 807–809)

The first movement devours its founders

The movement grows into a cult centered on Vivasvat. As followers increasingly treat him as the singular Allforone, Garmr and the original Bifrost members are pushed aside. She rebels because concentrating every objective in one person will imprison Vivasvat and reproduce the subjugation they set out to destroy. Her last appeal asks him to see what the movement has become, but Vivasvat orders the dissidents executed and carries out the sentence. Killing Garmr—his lover and founding companion—tears at him, yet he suppresses the grief and continues down the path she opposed. (Chapter 810)

Appearance and personality

Garmr appears as an adult woman flushed with drink, carrying a bottle and two axe-like swords. Her loose posture contrasts with the warrior who dances through enemies at Bifrost's front. (Chapters 804–805)

She is boisterous, provocative, and willing to look irresponsible, but the facade covers discipline and moral clarity. Garmr protects civilians, questions authority, and judges power by its consequences. Her loyalty is personal rather than submissive: she trusts Vivasvat enough to build a movement with him and loves him enough to oppose the system that would consume him. (Chapters 805, 807–810)

Abilities and powers

Twin-axe divine combat

Garmr channels divine power through two axe-like swords, cutting through ranks at close range and matching Urd's assault in repeated explosions. Her command voice carries across a battlefield like a lion's roar, allowing her to direct Bifrost while fighting at the front. She was once a Valkyrie, and even after leaving that seat she retains enough technique and authority to challenge its current representative. (Chapters 805, 807–808)

Limits

Time away from the Valkyrie position has left some of Garmr's skill rusted, and her duel with Urd cannot by itself resolve the larger power struggle. Her death is ultimately political rather than a straightforward battlefield defeat: the expanding Allforone movement isolates the founders, and Vivasvat's authority makes execution possible after her rebellion. (Chapters 808, 810)

Relationships

  • Allforone: Garmr recruits and guides Vivasvat, becomes his lover and fellow founder, then is executed after opposing the cult and identity built around him. (Chapters 804–810)
  • Heavenly Demon: Garmr knows Vivasvat is the Heavenly Demon's son and helps him turn resistance to divine oppression into organized action. (Chapters 808–809)
