Faceless

Faceless is the bandage-wrapped leader of the Chest of Souls, a body crowded with different voices whose dominant identity is Flanc, the former Spear God and the Martial King's estranged first disciple.

Biography

A rising power without one face

Faceless emerges as one of the Six New Stars while leading the Chest of Souls, hiding age, gender, and identity beneath bandages and speaking through multiple voices. During the struggle over Triton's remains, they follow Yeon-woo as a rival opportunist, decapitate Elaine before Boo can claim her, and press toward Benteke's stronghold. The intervention establishes Faceless as ambitious and lethal, willing to exploit another faction's battle rather than accept a subordinate place in the new generation. (Chapters 292–295 and 329)

Flanc returns for his horn

Years after surrendering his horn and tribal identity to secure the One-horned tribe's aid for Cheonghwado, Flanc returns inside Faceless and demands it back because the promised intervention did not occur as he expected. He courts families resentful of the Cheongram line, invokes his descent from the former king, and formally challenges the Martial King. The demand for legitimacy is also a trap: reclaiming his place gives him the lawful private duel needed to isolate his former master. (Chapters 484–485 and 604–608)

The assassination is erased before it begins

Faceless turns the duel into a prepared Illusory World, bringing the Black Prince, stored warriors, and descending Asgardian gods against the Martial King. Hydra's poison and Gaia's Curse make the otherwise unequal assault fatal, although the wider operation also conceals another faction's attack on the Psychic Medium. When Yeon-woo later rewinds the wheel, Phante prevents that history from repeating by killing Faceless before the alliance forms and taking Gungnir, making Faceless's latest status decisively dead. Appearance and personality

Faceless has a thin body entirely wrapped in white bandages, concealing every identifying feature. Their posture can be as elegant as a noblewoman's, while the next voice may sound like a growling warrior; the changing speech reflects the many souls crowded within. Flanc's dominant manner is controlled, provocative, and patient. He converts old humiliation into a claim of justice, yet willingly manipulates relatives and foreign powers to make that claim succeed.

Abilities and powers

Faceless combines Flanc's spear training with a composite body able to contain multiple souls. Their most dangerous operation depends on preparation, stored vessels, and alliances rather than solitary force.

Composite souls and the Chest of Souls

Many souls occupy Faceless's single body, producing distinct voices and allowing preserved warriors to appear as fighting spirits or vessels. In the Illusory World, those vessels host gods of Asgard and can reform while the prepared territory sustains them. This makes Faceless adaptable and difficult to define, but not independent of infrastructure: the spirits, divine Channels, and territory all depend on accumulated souls, compatible vessels, and an established battlefield. Spear arts, Gungnir, and the Illusory World

As Flanc, Faceless retains the Spear God's martial training and wields Gungnir while challenging the Martial King. The Black Prince's otherworld power helps establish an Illusory World assigned to Faceless, isolating the target and supporting repeated divine descents; an Asgardian vessel then delivers Hydra's poison and Gaia's Curse. The arrangement can wear down even the Martial King, but Faceless is far less secure when denied preparation, as Phante's preemptive attack demonstrates. (Chapters 605–621 and 812–813)

Relationships

• Martial King: Faceless is Nayu's younger brother and first disciple, but grievance over his lost horn and Cheonghwado turns the relationship into an assassination disguised as a lawful challenge.
• Phante: Faceless endangers Phante's father and village; after the rewind, Phante kills him before the conspiracy can begin.
• Edora: Faceless's attack divides Edora from her father and helps expose the Spirit Pond, forcing her to defend the Psychic Medium while the central duel unfolds.
• Yeon-woo: Faceless first shadows Yeon-woo as a competing rising power, then targets the Martial King partly to wound him; Yeon-woo later helps choose the rewind that nullifies the scheme.
