Bull Demon King

The Bull Demon King is the eldest and leader of the Seven Demon Kings. He is simultaneously described as the First Beast and an emperor: disorderly power associated with Night is organized within him like a being of Day, making his constitution difficult even for Yeon-woo's perception to measure.

Biography

An abandoned army receives a protector

After the Devil Army loses the Heavenly Demon's support, its Head Bishop turns to the Bull Demon King, who answers with more concern than the god they formerly served. He warns that the bishop's chosen sacrifice has no return but accepts it when the request remains firm, allowing the survivors to depend on the Seven Demon Kings. That protection eventually becomes permanent refuge in the Bull Demon King's peaceful magic region, where the displaced followers establish the Northern Magic Temple. (Chapters 420–429 and 847)

The First Beast enters the struggle for Li

The Bull Demon King partners with the Jie Sect and Yvlke because he seeks Gnosis for the Heavenly Demon, whose long confinement has exhausted that spiritual resource. This purpose places him against Yeon-woo even though his deepest loyalty remains with his youngest brother's origin. When he appears with the Seven Demon Kings, a single Bull Step has already overturned the Chan Sect's advantage, and Yeon-woo cannot identify his cause, limits, or weaknesses through ordinary observation. (Chapters 734–737 and 762–767)

An emperor chooses when the battle ends

At Li's tomb, the Bull Demon King bars Yeon-woo's party while Yvlke performs his ceremony, then takes his true form and overwhelms Jeong-woo, Kronos, and Rhea with speed, spatial pressure, and raw force. Jeong-woo becomes an emperor to keep him occupied, but their task is delay rather than victory. Once Yeon-woo defeats Yvlke, the Bull Demon King abandons the failed plan voluntarily and leaves with Sun Wukong, later resuming his secluded guardianship of the Devil Army. (Chapters 784–791 and 847)

Appearance and personality

In humanoid form, the Bull Demon King resembles an unassuming elderly man who leans on a cane, has clear cow-like eyes, and smiles with the warmth of a familiar grandfather. His relaxed posture hides a presence that makes other gods instinctively wary. His manifested true body is an immense bull whose pupil alone is larger than Jeong-woo.

He is patient, paternal, and protective toward abandoned followers and the other Demon Kings, but his mild speech does not lessen his authority. He can be frightening when angered, yet he is pragmatic enough to stop an impossible plan and openly relieved when doing so aligns with Sun Wukong's objections. (Chapters 429, 735–737, 790–791, and 847)

Abilities and powers

As the First Beast and an emperor, the Bull Demon King combines the disorderly holy power of Night with the stable organization associated with Day. His age and constitution make causal analysis unreliable: even Yeon-woo's Eye and Ear of the Heavens return no useful measure. In true form, his strength, speed, and shock waves rupture a stage, invalidate territorial restraints, and overpower multiple divine opponents. His power is enormous but not treated as omnipotent; coordinated movement can delay him, and he ultimately withdraws when his objective fails. (Chapters 600, 732, 735, and 784–791)

Bull Step dominates surrounding space, cancels competing movement powers, and inspired the Heavenly Demon Reigning Step. One use is credited with reversing an entire battlefield, while repeated uses can be countered temporarily when Jeong-woo anticipates them with his own Reigning Step and Rhea supports his movement. His latest direct battle ends by choice rather than defeat, leaving his abilities intact when he returns to seclusion. (Chapters 735, 790–791, and 847)
