Fallen Genius Mirror

The Fallen Genius Mirror is a Cathedral artifact that confronts cultivators with the breadth of the world and the delusions that can distort their pursuit of the Dao.

History

Jack's Dao Chamber Visit

The Cathedral Envoy granted Jack access to the mirror because of his ranking. It was a free resource rather than a possession he acquired. The mirror occupied a wide, otherwise empty room. (Chapters 357–358)

Inside, Jack encountered repeating or possibly fabricated images of long-dead geniuses. The experience challenged his assumptions about talent and success, including the role luck had played in his own rise. He left after roughly twenty minutes, much faster than the Envoy expected. (Chapters 359–360)

Abilities and properties

  • Presents repeating images of long-dead geniuses, or images that may be fabricated, until a user recognizes the point of the experience. (Chapter 359)
  • The Cathedral created it to help C-Grade disciples confront delusions about genius and avoid blind spots in their Dao cultivation. (Chapter 359)
  • It depends on the user's energy and has no operating cost, which is why access was free. (Chapter 357)
