Dao Magnet

The Dao Magnet is an artificing device issued to Master Huali’s personal disciples. It gathers Dao suited to its user and filters out incompatible Dao, making cultivation more efficient.

History

A cultivation aid for Huali’s disciple

When Jack becomes Master Huali’s personal disciple, Shol takes him to the artificing laboratory to collect the Dao Magnet allocated to him. The device attunes to Jack’s Dao and is placed in his cultivation chamber. Jack relies on the Dao it collects when he cultivates, including during the demanding schedule he follows at Huali’s estate. It removes some of the filtering work he previously had to do himself, but it does not make progress effortless: after two weeks of cultivation with the device, Jack has advanced only from Level 139 to 144. The latest view places the magnet beside him in the cellar after a major cultivation event; whether he retains or relocates it after this scene is unknown (Chapters 239–240, 246, 255).

Abilities and properties

• After attuning to a user’s Dao, it draws in compatible Dao while repelling incompatible Dao. Cultivating beside it lets the user absorb the gathered Dao without manually filtering the surrounding Dao particles. (Chapter 239)
• It is a recently invented artificing device and is not yet Inspectable when introduced. It is described as a scarce resource reserved for a faction’s best disciples. (Chapter 240)
• It improves the efficiency of cultivation, but does not guarantee rapid level gains or remove other limits on advancement. (Chapter 246)
