Yu Fei
Yu Fei is an impoverished Scatter Thunder Clan member whose memories and living body provide Wang Lin with a temporary identity inside the clan. The spectacular deeds performed under Yu Fei's name belong to Wang Lin; Yu Fei himself remains unconscious during the infiltration and is released when Wang Lin reveals his own origin soul. (Chapters 1329–1348)
Biography
An inheritance taken away
Yu Fei loses his parents early and reaches Core Formation only after severe hardship. They leave him a good cave beside a spirit vein and a Thunder Fruit Tree, but a stronger Nascent Soul cultivator seizes the property three days after he inherits it. For the next two hundred years Yu Fei's cultivation remains stagnant while he is bullied by other clan members and approaches the end of his extended Scatter Thunder lifespan. (Chapter 1329)
The cultivator who took the cave later uses Yu Fei to nourish the Thunder Fruit Tree with thunder power. Knowing his life is nearly over, Yu Fei eats one of the nine fruits. Clan rules prevent his outright murder, but he is humiliated, seriously injured, drained of cultivation, and expelled. His memories become dominated by hatred toward himself, the clan, and the life forced upon him. (Chapter 1329)
Wang Lin's borrowed identity
Wang Lin finds Yu Fei alive and temporarily occupies his body, searching his memories to understand the Scatter Thunder Clan. He explicitly does not intend a permanent possession and expects Yu Fei to regain control after the infiltration; the time spent carrying Wang Lin's cultivation may even become a fortune for the body. Using Yu Fei's name, Wang Lin reclaims the cave, studies the clan mark, earns thunder crystals, and rises into the Scatter Thunder Rankings. None of those later choices reflect Yu Fei's own agency. (Chapters 1329–1340)
When Wang Lin begins open battle with the clan, his origin soul leaves the borrowed body and Yu Fei's body floats away. This ends the disguise and publicly exposes the infiltrator's true identity. The corpus does not return to Yu Fei's consciousness, so the exact benefit or harm he experiences afterward is not confirmed. (Chapters 1347–1348 and 1360)
Appearance and personality
Yu Fei's physical appearance is not separately detailed because Wang Lin encounters and controls him through possession. His memories depict an isolated man worn down by two centuries of stagnation, exploitation, and humiliation. The resulting hatred is described as twisted and all-encompassing, but it grows from prolonged abuse rather than from any demonstrated cruelty of his own. Other clan members remember him as cowardly and insignificant, which makes Wang Lin's behavior in his body especially shocking. (Chapter 1329)
Abilities and cultivation
- Core Formation cultivation: Yu Fei reaches Core Formation through difficult personal effort, then stagnates for two hundred years. His cultivation is further drained as punishment for eating a Thunder Fruit, leaving the body far below the level Wang Lin later displays through it. (Chapter 1329)
- Inherited thunder mark: Like other Scatter Thunder clansmen, Yu Fei carries a mark derived from the eternal thunderbolt. The mark remains imprinted in his soul even if the flesh bearing it is torn away and contains a trace of thunder essence governed by the eternal thunder's will. Wang Lin studies and exploits this inheritance; Yu Fei is not shown mastering its deeper properties. (Chapters 1329 and 1334)
- Thunder Fruit nourishment: As a Core Formation cultivator, Yu Fei can feed thunder power into his family's Thunder Fruit Tree. The fruits strengthen a clan mark, improve the body's affinity for thunder spells, and extend lifespan, but the task is coerced by the cultivator occupying his cave. (Chapters 1329 and 1331)
- Scatter Thunder constitution: Membership in the clan gives Yu Fei a somewhat longer lifespan, allowing him to survive the two centuries of stagnation. It does not protect him from stronger clan members or grant the extreme thunder control demonstrated by Wang Lin. (Chapter 1329)
- Attribution limit: Yu Fei's sudden ranking, Ascendant-level display, collection of thunder crystals, and battles in the Seven Million Worlds are Wang Lin's feats performed through his body. They should not be read as Yu Fei's native abilities. (Chapters 1335–1348)
Relationships
- Wang Lin: Wang Lin borrows Yu Fei's body and memories for infiltration rather than killing him. He intends to return control and believes the temporary occupation may benefit Yu Fei, but the corpus does not show Yu Fei's reaction afterward. (Chapters 1329 and 1347–1348)
- Qi Zhi: The Nascent Soul cultivator takes Yu Fei's cave and Thunder Fruit Tree, exploits his labor, and orders his cultivation drained after he eats a fruit. Wang Lin later confronts Qi Zhi while using Yu Fei's body. (Chapters 1329–1331)
- Yu Fei's parents: They leave him the cave and Thunder Fruit Tree that should have provided security, but their deaths leave him unable to defend the inheritance. (Chapter 1329)
Items
- Inherited cave: A six-room cave beside a spirit vein, taken from Yu Fei shortly after his parents' death and reclaimed by Wang Lin while using his identity. (Chapters 1329–1330)
- Thunder Fruit Tree: The inheritance contains nine thunder fruits when described. Yu Fei eats one in desperation, triggering severe punishment. (Chapter 1329)
- Clan jade and thunder mark: These identify Yu Fei as a Scatter Thunder member and allow Wang Lin to move through clan institutions under his name. (Chapters 1334 and 1339)
