Yi Chen

Master Yi Chen is the eldest and strongest of the three Chen brothers, a mid-stage Nirvana Scryer who guards Ghost Eye City and later Planet Water Spirit. An initial clash with Wang Lin develops into hospitality and alliance; Yi Chen joins Wang's expedition into Celestial Emperor Qing Lin's cave, survives its collapse, and is left grieving the deaths of both brothers. (Chapters 963–1100)

Biography

Guardian of Ghost Eye City

Yi Chen and his brothers are hired to secure Ghost Eye City before an auction. When Wang Lin's divine sense enters, they combine their senses into a dragon and demand an apology, intending to make an example that deters further probing. Wang enters physically, destroys the city's restriction, and crushes all three divine-sense projections with casual force. Yi Chen recognizes that they have misjudged him, apologizes without resentment, and offers lodging rather than prolonging a conflict they cannot win. (Chapters 963–964)

Yi Chen hosts Wang and brings his granddaughter Ling Er to their dao discussion as proof that the brothers mean no harm. He is protective because her natural water-spirit body could make her a target for furnace cultivation. Wang gives her an aura-concealing straw hat, and the exchange turns an antagonistic meeting into trust. Yi Chen later observes Wang's dao comprehension from a respectful distance, treating the opportunity as instruction rather than interference. (Chapters 964–970 and 980–984)

Planet Water Spirit and the celestial cave

When Situ Nan arrives at Planet Water Spirit demanding Ling Er and Zhao Xue, Yi Chen activates a three-layer planetary defense and refuses to surrender them despite knowing the enemy is stronger. He appeals to Wang only after the formation is overrun. The apparent abduction becomes Wang and Situ Nan's reunion, but Yi Chen's resistance demonstrates that his guardianship is more than ceremonial. (Chapters 991–992)

Yi Chen and his brothers accompany Wang into Qing Lin's cave. He warns that a restriction contains hidden killing intent, then fights celestial soldiers when Wang proceeds. A Flower Celestial's glance later wounds all three severely. During the escape from Ancient Devil Ta Jia, Yi Chen saves his third brother's origin soul after the body collapses, but ultimately cannot preserve either brother. (Chapters 1004–1007 and 1070)

Last of the three brothers

Back on the burning star field, Yi Chen drinks beside Ling Er and blames himself for surviving. He briefly directs hatred toward Wang for leading the expedition, then acknowledges that the brothers volunteered and that cultivation always carried fatal risk. Wang promises that Yi Chen will have the chance to avenge them against Ta Jia. Yi Chen remains alive, but his identity as one of “three Chen brothers” has become a source of grief because he is the only one left. (Chapters 1088 and 1100)

Appearance and personality

Yi Chen is a white-haired old man. He is proud of the brothers' reputation and initially severe in his duties, but he can admit fault quickly when evidence changes. His care for Ling Er is paternal, and his later grief shows deep loyalty to his brothers. Even at his angriest with Wang, he distinguishes voluntary risk from coercion and ultimately directs blame toward his own inability to protect or avenge them. (Chapters 963–965, 991–992, and 1088–1100)

Abilities and cultivation

  • Mid-stage Nirvana Scryer: Yi Chen is stronger than his two early-stage brothers and can fight multiple celestial soldiers whose bodies and attacks rival Nirvana Scryer cultivators. He remains vulnerable to Nirvana Cleanser-level force and beings such as the Flower Celestial, whose glance alone inflicts grave injury. (Chapters 963–964 and 1005–1007)
  • Three-brother divine-sense dragon: The brothers merge their divine senses into an illusionary dragon and rotating storm capable of trapping Wang's early Nirvana Scryer-level divine sense. The formation gains its strength from cooperation; once Wang enters bodily, he breaks each projection with simple physical actions. (Chapters 963–964)
  • Planet-protection formation: Yi Chen and his brothers each break a black token to spread one defensive ripple around Planet Water Spirit. The three layers envelop the whole planet, but damage transfers back to the brothers, making them cough blood when Situ Nan's attack bears down. The technique is defensive and costly rather than an impenetrable barrier. (Chapter 991)
  • Restriction judgment: Yi Chen can recognize overt killing intent in a complex cave restriction and cautions Wang against forcing it while the party is injured. He does not claim mastery of the formation and explicitly distinguishes his observation from expertise. (Chapter 1004)

Relationships

  • Wang Lin: Their relationship develops from a security confrontation into hospitality and alliance. Yi Chen joins Wang's cave expedition and later accepts Wang's promise of revenge for his brothers. (Chapters 963–1100)

Items

  • Black formation token: One of three linked tokens whose destruction raises Planet Water Spirit's defensive layers. (Chapter 991)
