Yao Yun is a second-generation Yao family cultivator whose resistance to the Yao family's cruelty is erased beneath an ancient demon's possession. Ordered to kill Xu Mu, he instead recovers fragments of the man who once tried to save his nieces, only for Blood God to suppress him and consume his life to nourish the demon. He is distinct from the third-generation cultivator Yao Yunhai. (Chapters 835 and 848–857)

Biography

Defiance on Blood Planet

Thousands of years before his final mission, Yao Yun is the maternal uncle of the young sisters Yao Bingyun and Yao Mengyun. Their mother—his gifted elder sister—is absent, while the Yao ancestor intends to turn the girls into treasure souls. Yao Yun attempts to carry them away from Blood Planet so they can see their mother and denounces both the ancestor and the family when stopped. His protest follows the example of an older brother who had already left for similar reasons. (Chapters 848–849)

The defiance costs Yao Yun his freedom. Blood God places an ancient demon clone inside him and suppresses his memories, leaving the original personality buried beneath increasingly violent impulses. Yao Yun later seals himself within the family to delay the possession and the regression it causes, but cannot remove it. (Chapters 849 and 851–852)

Mission against Xu Mu

Blood God eventually orders Yao Yun to travel to the Northern Domain and kill Xu Mu. By then Yao Yun appears older, moves upon a red cloud, and uses a bronze mirror to track his target. The encounter with Wang Lin and references to Yao Bingyun and Yao Mengyun agitate the sealed memories. Severe headaches and moments of clarity expose a struggle between Yao Yun's consciousness and the horned demonic face emerging from within him. (Chapters 835 and 850–852)

Yao Yun briefly resists strongly enough to command the intruder to leave. The ancient demon attempts to break free, but Blood God intervenes remotely, forces it back into Yao Yun's forehead, and removes the remaining confusion and resistance. Yao Yun is therefore neither a willing demon nor a simple family executioner; the violence associated with his final years is inseparable from imposed possession and erased memory. Sacrifice and recovered memory

During Blood God's confrontation with Qing Shui, Yao Yun is injured and treated as an expendable resource. Blood God makes the ancient demon devour Yao Yun's flesh, origin energy, and origin soul. As his life is consumed, the suppression finally loosens and his original memories return. His final clarity brings no rescue: he declares that the Yao family no longer exists and dies as his body falls. The demon within him is subsequently identified as a clone, while its true body remains associated with an ancient lamp. (Chapters 854 and 856–857)

Appearance and personality

In the older memory, Yao Yun is a handsome middle-aged man; on his final mission, the same face has visibly aged. Possession reveals itself through pain, a darkened complexion, murderous urges, and a green, horned demonic face superimposed upon him. Beneath that corruption he is protective, morally defiant, and willing to oppose his own ancestor for two children. His last recovered statement shows that he ultimately rejects the family that destroyed him. (Chapters 848–852 and 856)

Abilities and cultivation

  • Cultivation and regression: Yao Yun once reached the early Nirvana Cleanser stage. The ancient demon's long possession drains and destabilizes him until he falls back to mid Nirvana Scryer, making his reduced realm a consequence of captivity rather than lack of talent. (Chapter 851)
  • Red-cloud movement: He travels through space on a red cloud while pursuing Xu Mu. The cloud serves as rapid transport, but the corpus does not give it a separate name or a broader set of demonstrated powers. (Chapter 850)
  • Tracking mirror: A bronze mirror allows Yao Yun to trace Wang Lin during the hunt. It is a locating implement rather than an explained offensive technique and is destroyed amid Wang Lin's Heavenly Chop and divine retribution. (Chapters 850–851)
  • Resistance to possession: Yao Yun can temporarily fight the ancient demon from within, recover recognition when confronted with his nieces' names, and attempt to expel the entity. Blood God's direct suppression prevents that resistance from becoming liberation. (Chapters 851–853)
  • Ancient demon manifestations: The green demonic face can issue a silent roar that disrupts a divine-retribution cloud and can attempt to devour lightning. These feats belong to the implanted demon clone operating through Yao Yun, not to Yao Yun's native cultivation. Its power also consumes and degrades its host. (Chapters 851–852 and 856–857)

Relationships

  • Blood God: Blood God is Yao Yun's ancestor, jailer, and eventual killer. He implants the demon clone, suppresses Yao Yun's memories and resistance, sends him after Xu Mu, and finally sacrifices him as nourishment. (Chapters 835 and 849–857)
  • Yao Bingyun and Yao Mengyun: The sisters are Yao Yun's nieces. His attempt to save them is the defining choice of his earlier life, and their names later help the buried consciousness struggle back toward the surface. (Chapters 848–852)
