Biography

Captured in the foreign battleground

Yang Xiong is traveling with Zhou Zihong and Lin Tao when they discover that the man using Mai Liang's body is not their original junior sect brother. Faced with an opponent they cannot resist, all three surrender their soul blood. Yang Xiong understands that this gives Wang Lin control over his life and fears that Wang may eventually seize his body as well. Even while frightened, he reads Wang Lin accurately: he reassures a junior sister that the cold stranger has no interest in troubling her merely because Mai Liang once did. (Chapters 123 and 126)

The failed warning

When Wang Lin summons him to deliver sect materials, Yang Xiong brings a copied jade describing a War God Shrine refinement technique. He also tries to activate a paired warning jade, hoping his sect can intervene and recover his soul blood. Wang Lin detects the attempt immediately, confiscates the warning jade, and refuses to release him. The failure leaves Yang Xiong shaken, but he continues to obey because open resistance would mean death. (Chapters 129–130 and 134)

Escort, bargain, and release

Yang Xiong later verifies Wang Lin's assumed identity for the War God Shrine group and escorts him to Feng Luan. When Wang Lin offers to return his soul blood if he brings Zhou Zihong, Yang Xiong accepts. He completes the task, receives his freedom, and departs with his head lowered, unable to hide his shame over both his enslavement and his failed betrayal. (Chapters 135–140)

A meeting centuries later

Centuries afterward, Wang Lin encounters Yang Xiong and Zhou Zihong again. Their appearances have barely changed because of spirit liquid Wang gave them during the foreign-battleground period. The meeting confirms that Yang Xiong survived long after being released, although the corpus does not trace the rest of his cultivation career. (Chapter 902)

Appearance and personality

The corpus gives Yang Xiong no sustained physical portrait. His behavior is more distinctive: he is cautious, perceptive, and highly concerned with survival. He submits when resistance is impossible, tests a covert route to freedom when one appears, and becomes dutiful once that attempt fails. His final shame shows that his compliance is pragmatic rather than wholehearted. (Chapters 123, 126, 129, and 140)

Abilities and cultivation

  • War God Shrine cultivation: Yang Xiong can travel through the foreign battleground and fly with his sect companions, but the text does not give his precise realm or a named personal combat art. (Chapters 123 and 135–136)
  • Refinement knowledge: He has access to a War God Shrine refining-house technique and can produce a copied jade for Wang Lin. The corpus does not show him personally using the technique, so its practical effects are not assigned to him. (Chapters 129 and 134)
  • Soul-blood awareness: Because Wang Lin holds his soul blood, Yang Xiong can be summoned through that connection and understands that betrayal can be punished immediately. This is a condition imposed on him, not one of his own spells. (Chapters 123 and 129)
