Sun Hao is a Heng Yue Sect inner disciple who joins Wang Zhuo in belittling Wang Lin during the sect's early years. He later volunteers to represent the struggling Heng Yue Sect against the Xuan Dao Sect, only to be humiliated by the fraudulent stink bombs he bought from Li Shan. (Chapters 36, 42, and 45–49)

Biography

Bullying Wang Lin

At the peak of the fourth Qi Condensation layer, Sun Hao treats Wang Lin's poor aptitude and nominal first-layer cultivation as reasons for contempt. He and Wang Zhuo try to make Wang Lin fetch water and later repeat the story of Wang Lin's failed entrance tests to Xuan Dao Sect disciples. Senior disciple Zhang rebukes them for bullying a weaker junior, but Sun Hao's attitude does not immediately change. (Chapters 36 and 42)

Contest against the Xuan Dao Sect

Sun Hao purchases ten of Li Shan's supposed stink-bomb treasures after watching a staged demonstration. When the Heng Yue disciples hesitate to enter the second round of the inter-sect contest, he volunteers despite being only at the fourth layer. His decision is partly courageous and partly calculated to impress Sect Head Huang Long. (Chapters 45 and 49)

Sun Hao attacks Li Shan with a flying sword and prepares several stink bombs. Because Li Shan secretly controls the bombs, they explode in Sun Hao's hands and cover him in black ash. Huang Long angrily removes him from the platform, and the match is counted as a Heng Yue loss. Sun Hao's later fate is not recorded. (Chapter 49)

Sun Hao also claims to have found a sword and ancient sheath in a cave. The sheath later comes into Wang Lin's possession and proves difficult to refine, although the corpus does not detail the transfer from Sun Hao. (Chapter 100)

Appearance and personality

Sun Hao is dismissive toward juniors he considers untalented and susceptible to promises of an easy advantage. His willingness to volunteer when stronger disciples remain silent shows some nerve, but his private hope of winning Huang Long's approval makes the act less selfless than it first appears. (Chapters 36, 42, 45, and 49)

Abilities and cultivation

  • Fourth-layer Qi Condensation: Sun Hao has reached the fourth layer and can control a flying sword. Elder Xu still regards him as too weak to represent the sect safely against the Xuan Dao disciples. (Chapter 49)
  • Flying-sword control: He forms a hand seal and directs a red flying sword at Li Shan. Li Shan dodges it without difficulty, so the scene establishes basic control rather than exceptional sword mastery. (Chapter 49)
  • No personal stink-bomb technique: The bombs Sun Hao presents as a new technique are Li Shan's rigged merchandise. Li Shan triggers them remotely, and Sun Hao never demonstrates independent control over them. (Chapters 45 and 49)

Relationships

  • Wang Lin: Sun Hao repeatedly ridicules Wang Lin as an untalented junior. A sword sheath Sun Hao says he found later becomes one of Wang Lin's difficult-to-refine treasures. (Chapters 36, 42, and 100)
  • Wang Zhuo: Wang Zhuo is Sun Hao's fellow disciple and companion in bullying Wang Lin. (Chapter 36)
  • Huang Long: Sun Hao volunteers before the sect head to fight in the second round. Huang Long permits the match but angrily removes him after the stink-bomb fiasco. (Chapter 49)
