Biography

Alchemy boy and qi refiner

Lu Yun is born in the ancient qi-refiner world and begins as the alchemy boy of the fourth Vermillion Bird Divine Emperor. His master teaches him qi cultivation rather than leaving him a servant. Lu Yun records precise milestones: at age 1,327 he gains recognized achievement as a qi refiner; at 2,945 he becomes a sect elder; and at 4,760 he becomes a head elder and survives his first Heaven's Blight. Awakenings and succession

At age 6,215, Lu Yun receives the Vermillion Bird Mark and completes his first awakening, defeating the other awakened candidates to rank first. He later completes a second awakening and is selected as successor. When the Tattoo Clan invasion draws the four Divine Emperors into the outside world, the fourth emperor designates Lu Yun as the fifth Vermillion Bird Divine Emperor before departing. A lifetime guarding the sect

Lu Yun remains with the Vermillion Bird Divine Sect through its decline. His final account presents this guardianship as the purpose of his life rather than a temporary office: he bears the pressure left by the missing emperor, protects the remaining inheritance, and reaches the end of his lifespan without completing the later awakening that might have prolonged his path. Passing the inheritance to Wang Lin

Near death, Lu Yun treats Wang Lin with kindness, helps his recovery, and asks him to care for the Vermillion Bird Divine Sect. He departs calmly after recounting his life, saying that he can die smiling now that the sect has a future. His corpse later reaches the fourth emperor in the Fallen Land. The teacher recognizes Lu Yun's aura, weeps over the body, and explains that a seal—not indifference—prevented him from returning. Appearance and personality

Despite his extreme age and failing lifespan, Lu Yun appears as a middle-aged man. His final expression carries melancholy and reluctance when he looks over the burning starfield and the sect's planets, then becomes relieved and elegant once he places the burden in Wang Lin's hands. He is dutiful, grateful to his teacher, and defined by endurance: his personal disappointment never displaces his responsibility to the sect. (Chapter 1096)
