Lu Song

Lu Song is a veteran Heng Yue Sect core disciple who returns to face the Xuan Dao Sect after losing the same inter-sect exchange twenty years earlier. Once regarded as Heng Yue's foremost genius, he later accepts Wang Lin's superiority and helps organize the sect's surviving inner disciples after the loss of their mountain. (Chapters 49–71)

Biography

Returning to the exchange

Lu Song appears as a forty-year-old middle-aged man in purple, determined to erase the defeat he suffered against Xuan Dao twenty years earlier. Heng Yue disciples remember that he had already reached the sixth layer of Qi Condensation at that time and call him the sect's number-one genius. Their confidence returns when Huang Long selects him to fight Xu Mu. (Chapters 49–50)

Defeat by intervention

In the match, Lu Song uses purple fog to create a giant hand that knocks aside exploding golden balls and suppresses Xu Mu. He then releases two white-dragon manifestations from paired flying swords. Before those attacks can finish the fight, a hidden Xuan Dao expert binds and breaks the swords. Because they are connected to Lu Song's soul, the destruction makes him cough blood and lose concentration, allowing Xu Mu to withdraw. The result is not a clean defeat by Xu Mu, but it leaves Lu Song bleak and injured. (Chapter 50)

Recognizing Wang Lin

Lu Song initially resents that the elders did not send the unexpectedly powerful Wang Lin before him. After seeing Wang overturn the exchange, however, he reassesses the younger disciple as a deeply concealed genius whose name will spread through Zhao. Rather than nursing hostility, Lu Song decides that Wang should become a friend, not an enemy. (Chapters 52–53)

Rebuilding after Heng Yue's fall

When Heng Yue loses its mountain, Lu Song remains with the displaced sect. He apologizes to Zhang Dekun for injuring him ten years earlier to secure a core-disciple opportunity for a relative and argues that the remaining disciples must unite. He openly states that he is at the eighth layer, accepts Wang Lin as senior after learning Wang has reached the fourteenth, and proposes a clear order among the leading disciples. The elders later place him in charge of the inner disciples, and after Wang disappears he becomes senior disciple of the reduced group. (Chapters 64–71)

Appearance and personality

Lu Song is a forty-year-old middle-aged man who wears the purple clothing of a core disciple. He is proud of his reputation and once used ruthless favoritism to influence a core-disciple contest, but age and the sect's collapse make him more conciliatory. He can recognize superior ability, apologize for old conduct, and place institutional survival above an obsolete grudge. (Chapters 49, 53, and 65)

Abilities and cultivation

• Eighth-layer Qi Condensation: Lu Song explicitly states that he has reached the eighth layer after Heng Yue's displacement. Earlier sixth-layer reports refer to his level twenty years before the renewed exchange. (Chapters 50 and 65)
• Purple fog hand: He exhales purple fog that enlarges into a hand. It can grab, strike as a fist, and generate an evil wind that diverts projectiles and disrupts an opponent's spiritual energy. (Chapter 50)
• Paired flying swords: Two silver swords appear as white dragons and attack from a second direction while the fog hand holds the opponent. Their soul connection is a vulnerability: when an outside expert breaks them, Lu Song is injured and his other spell collapses. (Chapter 50)
• Inner-disciple leadership: The elders entrust Lu Song with organizing the remaining inner disciples after the sect's displacement, reflecting seniority and administrative standing rather than a supernatural ability. (Chapter 66)

Relationships

• Wang Lin: Lu Song first wonders why the concealed expert was not sent before him, then decides to seek friendship, accepts Wang as senior, and helps place him at the head of the disciples. (Chapters 52–53 and 65)
• Zhang Dekun: Former rival whom Lu Song injured to benefit a relative. Lu Song apologizes and tries to set the grudge aside so the weakened sect can remain united. (Chapter 65)
• Huang Long: Sect head who selects Lu Song for the exchange and later relies on the surviving core disciples during Heng Yue's displacement. (Chapters 49–50 and 64–66)
