Lu Fei

Lu Fei is a former Cloud Sky Sect head elder who follows Wang Lin after learning that his sect master is the renowned Ceng Niu. Stalled at late Nascent Soul and nearing the end of his lifespan, he abandons office for the possibility of Soul Formation, serving as guard and resource gatherer while following Wang's cultivation guidance. (Chapters 332–340)

Biography

Choosing a new path

Lu Fei protects Li Muwan during the turmoil at Cloud Sky Sect and later helps explain her repeated failed Nascent Soul breakthroughs to Wang Lin. Once he realizes Wang is Ceng Niu, he sees a practical route beyond the bottleneck that has held him for 143 years. He helps suppress news of Wang's identity and enforces secrecy with lethal severity: two newly joined elders who know too much disappear and are replaced by black-mist puppets accompanying him. (Chapter 332)

Lu gives up his position as head elder alongside Tie Yan and follows Wang and Li Muwan into seclusion. Wang tells both men that accumulated, chaotic spiritual energy and a lack of personal understanding have placed them on the wrong path. He makes them cultivate against the pressure of Zhou Yi's domain, requiring them to approach the pagoda through their own power before receiving further guidance. Lu initially improves by only about one thousand feet, but accepts the slow correction because ordinary closed-door cultivation has already failed. (Chapters 332–334)

Guard and resource gatherer

Lu and Tie Yan travel behind Wang and Li Muwan through the Sea of Devils as guards. Their late Nascent Soul presence deters auction attendees, and Lu repels an intrusive divine sense before deferring once a Soul Formation cultivator appears. Wang later orders both men to remain with Li Muwan while he pursues a pill recipe. Their service is therefore protective and logistical rather than participation in Wang's higher-level battles. (Chapters 333–336)

Over the next two years, Lu returns to domain training and gathers rare alchemical ingredients when the Cloud Sky Sect cannot buy them. His measurable progress toward the pagoda remains gradual. When Li Muwan attempts the rank-six pill, Lu and Tie Yan carry Ouyang Zi away from the dangerous spiritual surge. Lu is alive when last directly seen; a later comparison says Tie Yan's mortal-world insight has advanced further, but does not establish Lu's death or final realm. (Chapters 337–340 and 344)

Appearance and personality

Lu Fei is an old man. He is practical, ambitious, and ruthless about protecting the opportunity Wang represents. His willingness to abandon authority shows that advancing to Soul Formation matters more to him than status, while his handling of possible leaks shows the morally severe methods he uses to secure that chance. Around Wang he is consistently respectful and attentive to instruction. (Chapters 332–337)

Abilities and cultivation

  • Late-stage Nascent Soul: Lu has remained at this stage for 143 years without reaching its peak. His spiritual energy is too disordered for a Soul Formation breakthrough, so Wang redirects him from accumulation toward refinement and personal understanding. The corpus records incremental improvement but no completed breakthrough. (Chapters 332–337 and 344)
  • Divine sense: Lu can combine divine sense with Tie Yan to repel probing from other Nascent Soul cultivators. Their joint effort loses against an older peak late-stage Nascent Soul expert, and both retreat immediately when faced with true Soul Formation pressure. (Chapter 335)
  • Puppet creation or control: Two elders who learn Wang's identity disappear after following Lu and are replaced by puppets wrapped in black mist. The result strongly associates Lu with their transformation, but the scene does not explain the ritual, activation, or whether he performed it alone; those mechanics remain unknown. (Chapter 332)
  • Domain-pressure training: Lu cultivates at the edge of Zhou Yi's fifty-kilometer domain and attempts to move closer using only his own power. This is training prescribed by Wang, not an ability Lu controls. Its purpose is to untangle cultivation and prompt the understanding required for Soul Formation. (Chapters 333–334 and 337)

Relationships

  • Wang Lin: Lu relinquishes his sect office to follow Wang in hope of Soul Formation. Wang gives him a new training method and uses him as a guard and resource gatherer. (Chapters 332–340)
