Li Shan is an eccentric Xuan Dao Sect disciple whose crude inventions, sales tricks, and talent for theft repeatedly turn serious cultivation events into farce. Beneath the comedy he is resourceful: he embeds his divine sense in “stink bombs,” makes fake pills, masters ambushes, and steals qualifying tokens from Foundation Establishment cultivators despite remaining in Qi Condensation. Biography

Selling controlled stink bombs

During Xuan Dao's visit to Heng Yue, Li Shan markets foul-smelling bombs as self-defense weapons, escape tools, and even solutions to romantic rivals. He pretends that buyers need a special throwing technique, but the bombs actually explode only when he triggers the divine-sense imprint hidden inside. He targets low-cultivation disciples as easy customers and sells several to Wang Lin, not realizing Wang can detect and erase the control. (Chapters 44–46)

The exchange backfires

Li Shan volunteers to fight Sun Hao after recognizing that Sun plans to use the purchased bombs. He detonates them in Sun Hao's hands and publicly blames improper handling. The scheme collapses when Wang Lin uses a cleansed bomb to defeat Zhou Peng. Li Shan panics because the black sludge cannot be washed away for months and because Zhou Peng immediately understands who built the weapon. Later, when Wang Lin dominates the exchange, Li Shan plays dead and even asks to be struck so that shared suffering might soften the punishment awaiting him; Wang instead throws him off the stage unharmed. (Chapters 49, 52, and 57)

Token theft in Jue Ming Valley

Years later, Li Shan enters Jue Ming Valley as Xuan Dao's only Qi Condensation representative. Punnan Zi makes the exception because Li Shan excels at fake pills and sneak attacks, and gives him a concealment treasure. Li Shan steals items during battles and obtains two additional tokens, but greed makes him overuse the treasure until it fails. More than a hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators corner him after he escapes through a tunnel he prepared in advance. (Chapter 108)

Meeting Wang Lin again

Wang Lin intervenes, takes the dropped tokens, and kills those who resist. Li Shan recognizes the former Heng Yue disciple and realizes that the gap between them has become immeasurable despite his own rise to the fourteenth layer of Qi Condensation. Terrified but useful, he guides Wang to the Xuan Dao gathering point and contacts the hidden group with a jade. His last confirmed scenes leave him alive among his sect companions. (Chapters 108–111)

Appearance and personality

Li Shan is presented as a young man whose expressions readily expose excitement, panic, grief, and calculation. He is inventive and audacious but deeply opportunistic: he cheats weaker cultivators, flatters elders, prepares escape tunnels, and abandons stolen goods the moment survival requires it. He is not fearless; much of his effectiveness comes from knowing when to run, surrender, or convert humiliation into sympathy. (Chapters 45, 49, 52, 57, and 108)

Abilities and cultivation

  • Fourteenth-layer Qi Condensation: By Jue Ming Valley, Li Shan has reached the fourteenth layer, although he remains below the Foundation Establishment pursuers surrounding him. (Chapter 108)
  • Controlled stink bombs: He embeds divine sense in explosive pellets, remotely triggering black sludge and an exceptionally persistent odor. Because the trigger remains his, purchasers normally cannot activate them reliably; Wang Lin defeats the trick by erasing the imprint. (Chapters 45–46 and 52)
  • Fake pills and deceptive crafting: Punnan Zi values Li Shan's ability to make convincing counterfeit pills. The corpus establishes the specialty but does not detail a chemical or formation process. (Chapter 108)
