Gu Ya is an Empyrean Exalt of the Purple Yang Sect and the only senior follower who remains with Grand Empyrean Gemini after her damaged reincarnation. Initially introduced through a false claim that he is Liu Jinbiao's master, he later appears directly as the patient caretaker of Gemini's childlike paired bodies and negotiates Wang Lin's allegiance on their behalf. Biography

A borrowed reputation

Before Gu Ya enters the story directly, Liu Jinbiao borrows his name to intimidate the Cloud Sect. Liu claims to be Gu Ya's servant and produces a wooden token carrying death aura, persuading others that an Empyrean Exalt might retaliate. Wang Lin exposes the token as a forgery made beside a powerful corpse. Gu Ya therefore has no connection to Liu's scheme; the deception works only because his rank and association with Grand Empyrean Gemini are genuinely formidable. (Chapters 1941–1943)

Keeper of Grand Empyrean Gemini

Gu Ya remains at the Purple Yang Sect after an accident in Gemini's reincarnation leaves her embodied as the two little girls Wa Wa and Han Han. Other followers depart, but he stays out of gratitude for the grace Gemini showed him at her peak. He monitors major celestial events, worries over the sect's weakened position, and absorbs the girls' teasing while quietly managing the responsibilities they no longer approach with an adult ruler's judgment. When Wang Lin becomes the foremost Ascendant Empyrean, Gu Ya sees that recruiting him could restore some of Gemini's influence. He is prepared to abandon the effort because rival Grand Empyreans can make stronger conventional offers, but Wa Wa and Han Han recognize Wang and insist on accompanying him. Gu Ya follows, unable to participate in the Grand Empyreans' confrontation and visibly embarrassed when his charges drive every rival away through threats and childish bravado. Negotiating Wang Lin's allegiance

Once the rivals withdraw, Gu Ya supplies the diplomacy Gemini lacks. He apologizes for the scene, respectfully offers the Purple Yang Sect's resources, and asks Wang to consider the girls' kindness. When Wang agrees conditionally, Gu Ya accepts that the allegiance may last only a few years and promises aid if a Grand Empyrean threatens him in the Central Continent. In return, Wang promises not to follow another celestial Grand Empyrean. Gu Ya gives him free access to the sect, including Gemini's closed-door cultivation site. (Chapter 1968)

Before Wang departs, Gu Ya gives him a jade that can alert Gemini and enable her intervention. He and the two girls watch Wang leave, hoping he will return. Wang later crushes the jade in the ancestral city; the resulting transfer array confirms that Gu Ya's promise is operational, although Gu Ya is not physically present in that scene. Appearance and personality

Gu Ya appears as a middle-aged man. His most consistent traits are loyalty, patience, and weary embarrassment: he endures Gemini's childlike behavior, coaxes and praises the two girls, and stays when more self-interested followers leave. He is politically realistic enough to assess Wang Lin's value and the limits of his own sect, but personal gratitude—not ambition alone—explains his continued service. Abilities and cultivation

  • Empyrean Exalt cultivation: Gu Ya belongs to the tier below Ascendant Empyreans and Grand Empyreans. His title is sufficiently feared that Liu Jinbiao can use it as false protection, yet Gu Ya explicitly lacks the qualifications to participate when several Grand Empyreans compete over Wang Lin.   • Observation and recruitment: From the Purple Yang Sect, Gu Ya uses a mirror to follow major events and evaluates which rising cultivators could strengthen Gemini's faction.
