Feng Hai

Feng Hai is a senior Everlasting Sect elder placed in charge of the regional sect competition. A former member of the Mountain Seeking Sect, he tries to defend its representative from Wang Lin, then abandons his hostility after witnessing powers that he knows would kill him without question. Biography

Managing the competition

Feng Hai supervises the competition with six other elders and welcomes Li Qianmei when she arrives. He responds diplomatically when she destroys Zhao Long's body, asking about the Origin Sect figure she has come to find rather than escalating against a disciple backed by the Heaven Breaking Sect. He later investigates the apparent “Lu Zihao” and reports the information and surrounding rumors to the Everlasting Sect's leadership. (Chapters 1240–1241 and 1250)

When Wang Lin arrives and kills members of the Celestial Music Sect, Feng Hai tries to intervene. His concern becomes personal when Wang Lin moves to kill Zhao Long, because Feng Hai belonged to the Mountain Seeking Sect before joining the Everlasting Sect. He asks Wang Lin to spare Zhao Long and advances with a cold aura, but Wang Lin's killing intent makes him stop rather than enter the spell's range. (Chapters 1253–1254)

Feng Hai continues watching with resentment, using subsequent challengers to estimate Wang Lin's limit instead of risking himself. Wang Lin's successive displays overturn that calculation. Sundered Night and Flowing Time convince Feng Hai that either spell would certainly kill him, and his resentment collapses into fear and awe. (Chapters 1255–1256 and 1260)

After the competition, Feng Hai follows the sect master's order to control the dispersal of nearly one hundred thousand visitors and prevent information from leaking. He also moves the Origin Sect from its remote lodging into quarters assigned to rank-seven sects. His later fate is not recorded. (Chapters 1260–1261)

Appearance and personality

Feng Hai is an old man who presents an enthusiastic, courteous face when welcoming prestigious guests. He is politically observant, personally protective of his former sect, and explicitly cunning enough to avoid opponents he is not confident of defeating. Once Wang Lin demonstrates an insurmountable advantage, Feng Hai suppresses resentment and complies with the changed balance of power. (Chapters 1240–1241 and 1254–1260)

Abilities and cultivation

• Senior-elder cultivation: Feng Hai can fly, project a mighty voice that suppresses weaker cultivators, and recognize advanced origin-energy and law attainment. The cited chapters do not give his exact realm or name a personal combat spell. (Chapters 1240–1241, 1250, and 1253)
