Vader

Vader is a former patrolman who becomes one of Neverwinter's senior investigators as policing develops from street patrol into a professional security service. (Chapters 322 and 1219)

Biography

Choosing field responsibility

Vader arrives with patrol experience but must learn Neverwinter's new procedures and the political purpose behind them. He accepts undercover and street assignments, including operations in Longsong, then rises to police leadership. Even as chief he prefers walking the districts to remaining behind a desk, a choice that keeps him close to residents and makes public trust—not noble fear—the practical consequence of his work. (Chapters 322, 439, and 904)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not establish a consistent detailed physical portrait. Vader is practical, energetic, and proud of visible public service; his preference for field patrol over paperwork also suggests the limits of his patience with purely administrative authority. (Chapter 904)

Magic and abilities

Vader has no magic. He demonstrates patrol procedure, undercover work, interviewing, urban investigation, personnel command, and interdepartmental coordination. Difficult cases still require specialist partners such as Agatha or Carter, showing that his strength is organized inquiry rather than solitary deduction. (Chapters 439, 904, 1065, and 1219)

Relationships

Carter Lannis helps establish the professional structure in which Vader advances. By the latest investigation, Vader coordinates with Carter and Agatha, combining police access with military and magical expertise. (Chapters 322, 439, and 1219)
