Shadow

Shadow is a masked witch who escapes King's City and later uses phantom illusions for Sleeping Spell's covert and theatrical work. (Chapters 146 and 1009)

Biography

Choosing caution, then aiding the trap

In King's City, Shadow hears Border Town described as a refuge but hesitates to trust news that could attract the Church, preferring to wait for her sister and the arranged ship. That caution carries her safely into Tilly's circle. When Heidi attempts to murder Annie, Shadow deliberately becomes part of the counter-plan, creating false bodies and cries that expose the attack without sacrificing the patient. Appearance and personality

Shadow is introduced as a masked woman. She is cautious when a rumor could endanger hidden witches, but later shows a playful streak by making faces after the Bloodfang trap and helping with special effects. (Chapters 146, 590, and 1009)

Magic and abilities

Shadow creates convincing phantom illusions, including human figures that dissolve when struck and staged visual effects for a magic movie. The phantoms can deceive sight but are exposed by contact or magic observation; the chapters do not establish them as physically substantial fighters. (Chapters 590 and 1009)

Relationships
