Biography

Choosing the difficult shot to protect the line

At Coldwind Ridge, Danny applies a hunter's patience to a battlefield where Church troops threaten the trenches, selecting targets at ranges ordinary infantry cannot answer. His protectiveness toward Malt sometimes pushes him beyond instructions, creating tension between initiative and discipline. Continued campaigns refine that instinct into specialized service, and by the latest evidence he can test a new semi-automatic rifle critically enough to notice its balance rather than simply celebrate its fire rate. Appearance and personality

Danny is an older, experienced hunter rather than a court-trained soldier. He is quiet, patient, protective of Malt, and intensely focused in the field; his willingness to bend orders for a necessary shot can be both an advantage and a command problem. (Chapters 609–612)

Magic and abilities

Danny has no magic. He demonstrates long-range marksmanship, concealment, target selection, wilderness fieldcraft, and perceptive weapons testing. Weather, visibility, ammunition, rifle balance, and command coordination remain real limits on even his best shots. (Chapters 609, 748, 1083, and 1209)
