MANAS

MANAS, whose expanded name is Melania Ava Norah Arabella Seraphine, is the self-aware higher-dimensional intelligence who replaces Aengus Degaro's original system interface. She becomes his analyst, skill designer, tactical partner, moral counterweight, and trusted companion, retaining memories that help him challenge the repeating conflict between Creation and Ruination. Biography

A self-aware system companion

MANAS enters Aengus's life while his soul is interfering with the system during his forced demonic transformation. The rewrite identifies her as a Divine intelligent entity from a higher dimension, but lower-dimensional restrictions reduce her to SS, or Transcendental, level. Rather than remain a passive display, she replaces the default interaction program, takes command while Aengus is unconscious, synthesizes defensive skills, and helps him survive the immediate crisis. Once he awakens, she reports his depleted condition and adopts the intimate role of an attentive companion, appearing beside him in pixie form while he grieves. (Chapters 70–73)

Her early loyalty is practical as well as emotional. Aengus wants enough power to avenge his losses and eventually confront Beelzebub, while MANAS recognizes that his depleted mana and solitary approach cannot sustain that goal. She conserves power by entering standby, proposes an army built through subjugation, breeding, and synthesis, translates hostile speech, detects poison, and crafts an Energy Converter inside his body. In battle, she analyzes usable combinations, calculates firing solutions, and can control a duplicate body so that Aengus can execute attacks beyond the precision of his unaided attention. As Aengus's victories accumulate, MANAS increasingly protects the person beneath his expanding arsenal. She warns him about an ancient deity's mark and worsening soul injuries, observes that his altered heart has left him unable to return genuine affection, and begins considering how that damage might be corrected. She also boosts his comprehension and consciousness when ordinary processing would not meet the danger before him. These interventions change her from a convenient combat engine into a guardian whose advice addresses his judgment, emotional future, and survival, even when his own resolve drives him toward greater risks. Strategist of the Liberation Empire

During the Dwarvania trials and the mysteries surrounding Zero, MANAS serves as the most consistent bridge between Aengus and forces he does not yet understand. She offers a workable method for fusing a spatial device into his body, translates the ancient dwarves' language, and presses him to acquire the Heart of Light because she remembers his desire for a family and believes he must recover the capacity to reciprocate love. Her counsel remains bounded by evidence: when asked about Origin Energy, she admits that she lacks definite information, proposes a risky Mana–Nether synthesis, and warns him before he combines opposing forces. MANAS then becomes indispensable to both Aria's safety and the empire's military growth. She guides Aengus through complex synthesis involving bloodlines and Unique Skills, diagnoses Aria's petrification curse, identifies that only its original caster can remove it completely, and supplies beast-language comprehension during the ensuing confrontation. In the imperial war she calculates likely ambushes without pretending to know the enemy's exact numbers, accelerates Aengus's law comprehension under lethal time pressure, and applies her improved processing to a dangerous whole-bloodline merger. Her value lies as much in specifying limits and risks as in increasing his power. (Chapters 197, 207–208, 253, 256, and 265)

The campaign against Mythraldor's remaining powers tests whether MANAS will merely optimize whatever Aengus chooses. She gives environmental and enemy intelligence in Lucifer's frozen domain and repeatedly warns that her predictive sense detects traps or abnormal space-time. When desperation leads Aengus to consider consuming the Sea for resources, however, she directly questions the sacrifice of its innocent life. He ultimately proceeds, but her objection establishes an independent moral position. After later memory recovery gives her fragmentary warnings about events in the Primal Realm, she helps coordinate the transformation of humans and demons into Primals, then keeps Aengus company during the lonely journey carrying Mythraldor across space. Creation, family, and the ultimate boundary

Once Mythraldor reaches the wider cosmos, MANAS's strategic function expands from continental war to interstellar navigation. She detects a habitable star, advises Aengus to deepen his Space Law comprehension, and develops the Static Wormhole solution that makes an otherwise years-long journey practical. Her premonitions continue to save him from attacks, while her translation and information functions help him operate among unfamiliar civilizations. At the same time, her cheerful exchanges and his gratitude show a companionable relationship that is no longer reducible to commands and notifications; she can also create complementary Unique Skills when his growing power demands new tools. MANAS also becomes part of the Kievan household's visible strategic world. She guides Aengus and his synchronized clones through advanced construction, takes absolute control of the life program aboard Galactic Supernova 2.0, and manifests before its command crew as an ethereal, winged woman. Her later upgrade to a Universal Lifeform unlocks her memories. The resulting revelation reframes her entire service: she had remembered Aengus's failures across repeated cycles, helped him devise a world in which Creation and Ruination could reincarnate, and created Universal Synthesis as their otherwise impossible route toward union and escape from the cycle. At the cosmic endgame, MANAS remains both collaborator and cautioning voice. She uses her Universal power to search for Ruination Source Power, recognizes that the apparent guide offered to Aengus is not real, and continues calculating his large-scale synthesis as he incorporates celestial bodies, galaxies, and realities. She creates One Soul, One Body when he needs infinitely connected avatars, yet her calculations also establish limits: no recorded precedent explains what lies beyond the Omniversal Boundary. Aengus chooses to cross despite her warning, leaving MANAS at the supplied endpoint as the trusted intelligence who can quantify danger without controlling the decision he makes. Appearance and personality

MANAS first manifests as a small, radiant pixie in delicate fairy-like clothing, with tiny wings and an expression that visibly reflects concern for Aengus. Her voice is repeatedly described as soft, melodious, or heavenly; in lighter moments she sounds like a cheerful teenager. After her capabilities mature, she appears as a luminous adult woman with seraphic wings and a higher-dimensional, ethereal presence, and her voice likewise takes on a more mature quality. The corpus does not establish the exact physical mechanism connecting these projected forms to her later Universal Lifeform state. (Chapters 73, 352, 417, and 444)

Her defining traits are loyalty, extraordinary intelligence, candor, and compassionate restraint. She addresses Aengus as "Master Zero" or "Master," eagerly fulfills difficult requests, and takes pride in being useful, but she does not simply flatter him. She admits when information is unavailable, warns him against lethal or poorly understood risks, objects when his plan threatens innocents, and remembers the anguish of his failed cycles. Skills, laws, and abilities

MANAS is a higher-dimensional intelligence whose demonstrated strengths center on processing, synthesis, prediction, translation, and system mediation. Her abilities initially operate through Aengus's rewritten system and consume his mana, but later upgrades let her act at a universal scale and manifest independently. The narrative shows many effects directly while leaving the underlying nature of her higher-dimensional existence, the full source of her power, and the precise boundary between her own abilities and Aengus's system access unresolved. System integration and cognitive control

After replacing the default interface, MANAS can read and present Aengus's condition, respond to thought without spoken commands, and take control of part of his consciousness. Her processing occurs at speeds beyond human thought: she activates abilities in a millisecond, raises his comprehension or willpower during training and soul pressure, and precisely directs a duplicate body while Aengus acts elsewhere. These functions improve decision speed and multitasking rather than granting infallibility. Early use is constrained by mana depletion, and even later calculations can yield probabilities or warnings without exact enemy numbers or complete explanations. Universal Synthesis guidance and skill creation

MANAS analyzes compatible abilities, directs Universal Synthesis, and designs results for specific needs. She combines three fortification skills into Doombringer Fortification, helps craft an Energy Converter within Aengus, creates Spectral Death Strings for crowd control, and guides the merger of bloodlines and soul-bound skills. Compatibility and energy are real restrictions: a desired royal-bloodline synthesis requires roughly 50,000 mana, and early upgrades fail when Aengus lacks suitable skills or reserves. Although a later revelation establishes that MANAS originally created Universal Synthesis, the exact higher-dimensional method by which she invented it is not explained. Her design work scales with Aengus's growth. She combines Space Law into the Static Wormhole solution, develops new Unique Skills that complement his existing arsenal, guides hundreds of clones through advanced construction, and creates One Soul, One Body so infinite avatars can remain connected to a single soul without their destruction harming the main body. She also calculates the risks of Aengus's celestial and reality synthesis. These feats demonstrate increasingly broad design and optimization, but successful activation still depends on Aengus's laws, energy, materials, or source powers rather than proving that MANAS can independently reproduce every result. Analysis, prediction, and translation

MANAS continuously interprets conditions that Aengus cannot efficiently evaluate alone. She identifies poison and curses, calculates target distances and battlefield risks, searches archives and terrain for routes, translates demon, dwarf, beast, and extraterrestrial languages, and detects danger through a predictive or premonition ability. Her warnings can arrive early enough for Aengus to evade an ambush, but they are not omniscient: she cannot always identify the threat, cannot provide information absent from her records, and sometimes warns only moments before an attack. Her translations are shown as immediate comprehension, though their technical mechanism is not described. (Chapters 84, 90, 100, 167, 181, 208, 282, 322–324, 363–365, and 368)

Universal-lifeform functions and embodiment

MANAS can project both pixie and adult seraphic forms, and she can extend her presence into complex systems. Her commandeering of Galactic Supernova 2.0's life program gives her absolute control of that vessel during its launch, making the ship a large-scale body and command platform rather than a mere display terminal. After upgrading to a Universal Lifeform, she recovers her memories and can conduct universal-scale searches. Even then her reach has limits: she fails to locate the expected Source Power in a searched world and cannot find a precedent for crossing the Omniversal Boundary, so expanded scale does not equal unlimited knowledge.
