Elena
Biography
Otherworlders to Devilish Prodigy
Elena is a level 95 otherworlder completing a mission in the Primal Realm when Aengus Degaro intercepts her group. Her caution correctly identifies him as at least Transcendental, but it cannot prevent him from Soul-Binding the survivors and turning them into controlled sources of information. She and Olivia later carry his mark through Mythraldor's collapse and into Tiamat Academy, where his summons compels them to answer questions about Hexagon. Academy experts remove their bindings while several peers die in the attempt; survival frees Elena's actions but not her fear, and she confirms Olivia's account of Aengus when powerful elders interrogate them. (Chapters 342–364)
Appearance and personality
Elena is identified as a young woman, but her hair, clothing, height, and other physical details are not supplied. Before capture she is calm, mildly smug about reaching level 95, and sharply private about unrevealed skills. Faced with vastly stronger beings, she becomes cautious and fearful while remaining attentive enough to assess danger, propose a distress signal, and speak when ordered. (Chapters 342–364)
Skills, laws, and abilities
Elena has reached level 95 through otherworlder trial activity and implies that she may possess newly acquired skills, but she refuses to disclose them and the narrator never names or demonstrates one. She can communicate mentally with companions and recognizes major power disparities. Soul-Binding lets Aengus sense, summon, and control her across distance; this is an imposed condition, not Elena's ability, and expert removal is dangerous enough to kill other bound students. (Chapters 342–364)
Relationships
- Olivia: Olivia is Elena's trusted senior companion through capture, displacement, release, and interrogation. (Chapters 342–364)
- Aengus Degaro: Aengus Soul-Binds Elena, uses the mark to summon and question her, and remains the subject of her fear after its removal. (Chapters 343–364)
- Hexagon: Elena is present when Aengus questions the bound students about Hexagon, but she supplies no direct information about him. (Chapter 363)
Items
No named weapon, communication treasure, or personal item is securely assigned to Elena. Other members of her group attempt to use an unidentified treasure, but the corpus does not place it in her possession. (Chapters 342–343)
