Dimitri Kievan

Dimitri Kievan is the former Emperor of the Kievan Empire and the severely wounded Seeker who seals Dwarvania into a lethal trial ground. His final fight with Aengus Degaro ends both his life and the isolation of Dwarvania, but a binding transfer makes Aengus his marked heir. Dimitri's compromised legacy later becomes the legal and emotional foundation for Aengus's claim to Kievan. (Chapters 177–194 and 382–416)

Biography

Dimitri, Emperor Of Kievan to Overkill

Dimitri reaches Mythraldor after betrayal leaves his soul and Law Cores severely injured. He isolates Dwarvania, turns its inhabitants and visitors into resources, and admits to slaughtering millions while treating the lower world as a playground. When Aengus reaches him, Dimitri first demands submission and death, then offers power after recognizing the Degaro name. Aengus refuses because Dimitri harmed the dwarves and endangered his loved ones, forcing the emperor into a fight his damaged condition can no longer sustain. (Chapters 177–180)

Dimitri uses an incomplete soul elixir made from harvested human souls to restore enough of his damaged core for a final exchange, but Aengus's Leviathan form overwhelms him. Dimitri dies after a binding deal leaves Aengus his heir, and the seal over Dwarvania collapses with him. Aengus then synthesizes Dimitri's remains, acquiring part of the fallen emperor's power and later explaining to Aria that the inheritance carries a promise concerning Dimitri's family as well as a claim to Kievan. A New - to A Call For War

Centuries after his death, Dimitri remains the standard against which Kievan judges rulers. His Emperor's Mark identifies Aengus as the lawful successor, destabilizes Vansing's unmarked reign, and lets Aengus open the secret vault containing the Ancient Dark Sovereign's Skull. The later revelations show that Morgana and allied lords betrayed Dimitri while seeking that relic; by refusing to surrender it, he protected both his empire and the wider Primal Realm. His posthumous role changes from feared killer to a compromised founder whose final choices enable the cult's defeat. (Chapters 351, 382–406, and 416)

Appearance and personality

Dimitri is an ancient male Seeker, 1,587 years old at appraisal, whose commanding presence still resembles an emperor despite catastrophic spiritual injuries. The corpus gives little facial or clothing detail, emphasizing instead the contrast between his weakened A-rank body and the authority of his former prime. He is arrogant, contemptuous of lower beings, and proud of conquest, yet he welcomes a genuine survival challenge and ultimately entrusts his succession to the opponent who defeats him. Skills, laws, and abilities

Dimitri possesses Space and Water Laws with unstated mastery. He can blend with space to evade repeated warps, redirect an incoming strike, freeze a target inside local space, travel instantly around the battlefield, and trigger Spatial Collapse severe enough to tear open a spatial storm. His Water Law creates aerial platforms, cutting-pressure waves, defensive liquid barriers, and oceanic tides. These powers balance evasion, restraint, offense, and defense, but damaging the already injured Law Cores risks punishment and accelerates his collapse. (Chapters 177–180)

His experience lets him exchange hundreds of blows at extreme speed and use Space and Water together to survive attacks that would overwhelm ordinary combatants. The incomplete soul elixir temporarily repairs his Soul Core and Law Core, not his underlying condition; even after taking it, he cannot keep distance from Aengus's Leviathan form or prevent fatal injury. Later inheritance gives Aengus Space-Law knowledge and the Emperor's Mark, but the corpus does not present a complete list of Dimitri's former prime abilities or quantify his original imperial peak. As ruler, Dimitri conquered hundreds of life worlds and benefited from the fortune associated with Kievan's Emperor's Mark. The mark also acts as a hereditary-political key: it legitimizes the chosen ruler and opens Dimitri's hidden treasury. Its precise selection criteria and full luck mechanics are not explained, and the mark does not make its bearer invincible; Dimitri is betrayed despite it, while Aengus's success depends on powers far beyond the inheritance. Relationships

• Aengus Degaro: Dimitri begins as Aengus's would-be executioner, then recognizes his lineage, battles him, and leaves him the binding status of heir. Aengus kills and synthesizes Dimitri but later protects his descendants, exposes the betrayal behind his fall, and uses the Emperor's Mark to reclaim Kievan. (Chapters 177–194 and 382–416)
• Vansing: Vansing is Dimitri's son but grows up believing his father selfishly rejected him. Dimitri instead marks an outsider as heir, and the truth of his betrayal eventually helps Vansing abandon Morgana's faction and serve the restored empire. (Chapters 384, 391, and 399–407)
• Myria: Myria inherits hostility toward the grandfather she believes abandoned the family. Seeing Dimitri's wounded final memories breaks that conditioning and motivates her to fight the conspirators responsible for his fall. (Chapters 384, 394, and 399–405)
• Morgana: Morgana impersonates Dimitri's wife and conspires with outside powers to ambush him for the Ancient Dark Sovereign's Skull. Dimitri escapes with the relic's secret intact, delaying the cult for centuries and allowing his heir to turn their goal into bait. (Chapters 394–416)
