Maxwell
Maxwell is William's father, Arwen's husband, Morgan's twin, and the legendary Dungeon Conqueror who saved the Elven race. Though believed dead for much of the story, his existence becomes joined to the World Tree.
Biography
A legacy preserved in son and World Tree
Maxwell is introduced through the black ring left to his infant son and through a reputation powerful enough to define William before they meet. Central Continent witnesses toast the quality of Maxwell's son, remember his sociable nature, and compare William's emerging Dungeon Conqueror authority with the countless armies Maxwell once commanded. His earlier salvation of the Elves gives William inherited moral standing among them. By the ending Maxwell and the World Tree are one, and he can create an avatar that lets him reunite physically with Arwen. (Chapters 8, 438, 664–707, 1271, 1469)
Appearance and personality
Maxwell is a handsome man and Morgan's identical twin, distinguished by greater sociability and success with people. His final avatar permits a human appearance despite his union with the World Tree. (Chapters 696, 1469)
