Marcus is Lont's most senior shepherd, Theo's father, and the rider of the boar Thunder.

Biography

Senior shepherd in the defense of Avalon

Marcus supervises the younger shepherds of Lont, including Theo and William, when their daily responsibility is still limited to tending livestock. During the Central Continent crisis, James assigns Marcus and half the available force to reinforce Avalon. Mounted on Thunder, Marcus smashes a Giant's head and immediately rides after the next target, demonstrating that his shepherd role includes formidable mounted combat. Later records still identify him as one of Lont's senior shepherds rather than granting a new title or independent command. (Chapters 25, 742–743, 1290)
