A student used as Carter's possible agent

Charlotte and Annie initially decide to “seduce” Carter and make him their husband, treating the professor as a romantic target. Carter later asks Charlotte to identify a young woman in William's arms, showing that he uses her access to students for information. Another girl addresses Charlotte as Big Sister, suggesting social influence among the students. After Wendy breaks free, William expects Carter to send Charlotte to investigate and becomes suspicious when he does not, making Charlotte's absence itself evidence of a change in Carter's plan. Her ultimate fate is not recorded. (Chapters 206, 214, 264, 277)
