Zong Ze
Zong Ze is Autumn Sea Tribe's End Soul Catcher, an aged Shaman whose duty to his people outlasts his remaining lifespan. He considers surrendering his blood right for a dangerous final breakthrough, clashes with Su Ming when Hong Luo controls the younger man's body, and later comes to respect Su's own strength and judgment. On Southern Swamp Island, he becomes an elderly guardian of the surviving community.
Biography
The price of an End Shaman's duty
With his life almost exhausted, Zong Ze warns the Shaman Lord that he will surrender his blood right for a chance to break beyond the End stage. He understands that success may cost his identity, but regards inaction as a greater failure of duty. When Hong Luo acts through Su Ming, Zong Ze tries to intervene and is sealed with a casual gesture; the experience teaches him the difference between Su's body and the foreign will wielding it. He also witnesses the wounding of Autumn Sea's sacred mackerel pike, whose survival leaves the tribe diminished rather than destroyed. (Chapters 369–394)
Years later Zong Ze recognizes the genuine Su Ming and finds that achievement more impressive than borrowed overwhelming power. He supplies intelligence about post-calamity South Morning and Scour Sieve Island, while honestly admitting his own defeat by Mo Luo. When Su returns with Mo Luo captured, Zong Ze treats his request to protect Cang Lan and Zi Yan seriously, both because time is running out and because Su has earned his respect. (Chapters 516–539)
Old age on Southern Swamp Island
At the reunion on Southern Swamp Island, Zong Ze appears like an ordinary old man, supported by Wan Qiu and surrounded by a flourishing settlement. His bleak aura shows that his lifespan remains near exhaustion, but his smile indicates peace rather than a last attempt at reckless advancement. The scene confirms survival to that point without showing the ultimate outcome of his earlier breakthrough plan. (Chapter 721)
Appearance and personality
Zong Ze is an old man whose presence grows increasingly bleak as death approaches. He can appear ordinary when not releasing cultivation, but his End Shaman aura is formidable. He is dutiful, candid about limits, and willing to gamble his identity for his people. Experience also makes him perceptive: he distinguishes Hong Luo's control from Su's own later development and adjusts his respect accordingly. (Chapters 369–539, 721)
Abilities and cultivation
As an End Soul Catcher, Zong Ze is theoretically comparable to a Berserker at great completion of the Berserker Soul Realm, though differences between the two systems prevent exact equivalence. He can release an End Shaman barrier, form seals, and manifest eight progressively older figures that fuse back into him. Su Ming at Hong Luo's level seals him before the technique can change the outcome. (Chapters 369–394, 516–539)
His proposed blood-right surrender could support a breakthrough beyond End Shaman, but the cost may erase who he is and the dossier does not confirm that he completes it. His age and death aura remain hard limits at his latest appearance. (Chapters 369, 721)
