Zi Long
Reverend Zi Long is the Fourth True World's leading representative in Divine Essence Star Ocean, identifiable by his purple robe and crimson dragon. He enters the Fifth Furnace as an independent power, but Su Ming defeats his schemes through leverage and converts him into a temporary guard with the promise of God Ascension Nectar.
Biography
Arrival at the Fifth Furnace
Zi Long's arrival forces the Frail Darkness elders to retreat merely from the heat and disorder surrounding his dragon. Recognized as a Master of Fate, Lives, and Death, he joins the dangerous gathering of experts entering the Fifth Furnace. Inside, he remains composed under Ancient Wu's golden light and recognizes its source, showing both experience and a capacity to survive environments that destroy lesser creatures. (Chapters 976–997)
Schemes, defeat, and Morning Dao
The Furnace turns cooperation into competition. Zi Long deliberately leaves a resting platform early to shorten Huang Mei's recovery time, then becomes entangled in a dispute over a corpse he took as war spoils. Su Ming surrounds him politically with other experts and exposes the risk that hesitation will damage his future attempt to enter Fate Realm. When Zi Long resolves to fight, Su Ming instead reveals the fragrance of God Ascension Nectar. Zi Long returns the corpse and accepts one year as Su Ming's guard in exchange for ten times that amount, choosing cultivation opportunity over pride. (Chapters 1003–1024)
At Morning Dao's Anointment Ceremony, Zi Long alone understands that Su Ming used the nectar to force the manifestation of a fifth finger. The risk inspires respect rather than contempt. After Su Ming annihilates opposing delegations, Zi Long and the Fourth True World cultivators respond with zealous admiration; his later fate is not recorded. (Chapters 1104–1110)
Appearance and personality
Zi Long is a purple-robed man with an unchanging, controlled expression. He is proud, calculating, and willing to disadvantage rivals openly, but he can assess a losing position and accept a face-saving compromise. Cultivation advancement matters enough to him to outweigh temporary humiliation. (Chapters 976, 1004, 1024)
Abilities and cultivation
Zi Long is explicitly a Master of Fate, Lives, and Death who hopes to advance into Fate Realm. His passive presence near the crimson dragon cracks distant cultivators' skin and disorders their cultivation, although the dragon and local heat contribute to that scene. He survives the Fifth Furnace's borders and heals relatively quickly, but suffers injuries there and cannot ignore other Almighties. (Chapters 976–1004)
He recognizes Ancient Wu power and God Ascension Nectar from minimal exposure. This is knowledge and sensitivity, not control: the nectar belongs to Su Ming, and Zi Long has only inhaled a trace. His concern that hesitation could leave a Brand in his heart reveals a cultivation limit in which unresolved fear threatens later advancement. (Chapters 997, 1024, 1105)
Relationships
- Su Ming: They move from wary competitors to a negotiated guard relationship. Zi Long later respects Su Ming's willingness to use the nectar's dangerous force. (Chapters 976–1024, 1105)
- Crimson dragon: The dragon accompanies him with obvious respect and slight fear. (Chapter 976)
- Huang Mei: Zi Long treats him as a rival and deliberately disrupts his recovery inside the Furnace. (Chapter 1004)
Items
- Crimson dragon: A living companion or mount, not a simple artifact; its exact ownership terms are unstated. (Chapter 976)
- God Ascension Nectar: Promised by Su Ming as payment after one year of protection. Zi Long does not yet receive the agreed quantity within his article evidence. (Chapters 1024, 1105)
- White-robed teenager's corpse: Zi Long briefly holds it as spoils before surrendering it under the guard agreement. (Chapter 1024)
