Ye Shen Tong

Ye Shen Tong is an earth-aligned cultivator recruited into Tian Lin's plan against True Guard Jing Nan Zi. His dangerous eye, underground affinity, and surviving experience against a True Guard make him valuable, but the expedition uses a clone whose destruction precedes the group's collapse.

Biography

South Morning and the Immortal conflict

Tian Lin introduces Ye Shen Tong as a cultivator from Peaceful Earth Planet who has understood earth's essence and once survived fighting a True Guard. Ye Shen Tong probes and provokes the newly arrived Su Ming, but Su Ming's composure makes him reassess rather than escalate. The group intends to exploit the years before the next patrol and combine specialized abilities against Jing Nan Zi. (Chapters 764–771)

Tian Lin plants a thought in the sleeping Ye Shen Tong so that, when he wakes, he summons Jing Nan Zi at the intended moment. The plan misfires because Tian Lin is unconscious and timing collapses. When Jing Nan Zi arrives and later reaches the others, Su Ming concludes that Ye Shen Tong's deployed clone has died. The corpus does not confirm the destruction of Ye Shen Tong's remote original body, so his total death cannot be assumed. (Chapters 778–784)

Appearance and personality

Ye Shen Tong is an old man with a vertical pupil in his right eye that gives Su Ming an acute sense of danger. He is testing and suspicious on first contact, yet observant enough to take Su Ming's lack of reaction seriously. Most later action occurs through the expedition's mechanism, leaving his private motives beyond survival and cooperation sparse. (Chapter 764)

Abilities and cultivation

Ye Shen Tong has comprehended earth's essence and can bring forth greater power deep underground. This environmental dependence is both advantage and limit: the source specifically locates his strength in the depths rather than presenting it as uniform everywhere. He has survived a True Guard and grown stronger afterward, but his exact realm is not named. (Chapter 764)

His vertical pupil is dangerous, though no isolated attack mechanic is preserved. He also operates through a clone, allowing participation without proving the original body is present. That clone can be killed by Jing Nan Zi, and a planted thought can manipulate its summoning response when consciousness returns. (Chapters 764, 778–782)

Relationships

  • Tian Lin: Organizer who recruits Ye Shen Tong and plants the thought that summons Jing Nan Zi, making Ye central to a plan whose timing fails. (Chapters 764–778)
  • Jing Nan Zi: True Guard opponent who is inferred to have destroyed Ye Shen Tong's clone. (Chapter 782)
  • Su Ming: Ye tests him on meeting, while Su Ming later uses the clone's death to infer Jing Nan Zi's movements. (Chapters 764, 782)

Items

No named personal item is securely attributed to Ye Shen Tong. His vertical pupil and earth essence are bodily or cultivated abilities, not confirmed artifacts.
