Yan Pei

Yan Pei is Dark Dawn's sovereign representative in its uneasy strategy with Saint Defier. Powerful enough to descend upon Arid Triad as the allied camps' first Avacaniya cultivator, he nevertheless cannot control the larger catastrophe consuming their Expanse Cosmoses.

Biography

A wrong move in the cosmic game

Yan Pei plays chess with Lord Saint Defier Xuan Jiu while the two sides negotiate their return to Arid Triad. He admits a wrong move but resists being lectured until Xuan Jiu clarifies that the greater error was Saint Defier's selection of a chess piece. Bound by an agreement that Dark Dawn will send the first Avacaniya cultivator, Yan Pei departs to act. His descent makes all four Great True Worlds tremble under his faintly revealed pressure, establishing the force behind his title. (Chapters 1274–1279)

Powerlessness before the aeon's end

As distortions consume Dark Dawn and Saint Defier, Yan Pei, Zi Ruo, and Fei Hua cannot stop their civilizations sinking into chaos. Yan Pei eventually recognizes the legendary disaster and trembles uncontrollably; his broken laughter and tears mark comprehension rather than resistance. By the time Su Ming's purple wind destroys most of both camps, Yan Pei is already stated to be dead. The exact moment and mechanism of his death are not supplied. (Chapters 1361–1373)

Appearance and personality

Yan Pei appears as a middle-aged man whose moderate speech and springlike smile can turn cold and sharp. He is proud, politically alert, and able to admit a mistake without surrendering dignity. At the end, that composure collapses into despair when he recognizes a threat his rank cannot answer. (Chapters 1274, 1367)

Abilities and cultivation

Yan Pei is an Avacaniya Realm cultivator whose descent spreads heinous mighty pressure across the four Great True Worlds. This passive cosmic effect demonstrates extraordinary scale, but the dossier does not preserve a named combat Art or exact substage. His most important limit is equally explicit: even together with comparable leaders, he cannot halt the spatial collapse and madness overtaking Dark Dawn and Saint Defier. (Chapters 1274–1279, 1361)

Relationships

  • Xuan Jiu: The Saint Defier lord is his strategic counterpart and chess opponent. Their alliance is cooperative but edged with blame and mistrust. (Chapter 1274)
  • Zi Ruo and Fei Hua: They share leadership-level responsibility during the collapse but cannot prevent it. (Chapter 1361)
  • Su Ming: Yan Pei descends as part of the forces responding to Arid Triad; later, Su Ming's purge passes through Dark Dawn after Yan Pei's death. (Chapters 1279, 1373)

Items

  • Chess set: Used in his strategic discussion with Xuan Jiu. Its chess-piece imagery also expresses their treatment of cultivators and worlds as moves in a larger contest; no supernatural property is shown. (Chapter 1274)
