Yan Luan

Yan Luan is the leader of Lake of Colors Tribe during Su Ming's rise in Han Mountain and, more than a millennium later, the partner of Fang Mu and mother of their ailing son. Her story moves from the guarded calculations of a tribal leader to the immediate risks of preserving a small family in the ruined Berserker lands.

Biography

Dark Mountain and the Berserker awakening

Yan Luan appears as the woman whose face is projected through the red mist surrounding Lake of Colors Mountain. She commands the mist, restores a messenger enough to report, and carefully evaluates the unknown cultivator awakening beneath Han Mountain. Responsibility for the tribe makes her cautious: she does not interfere with a complete Blood Solidification cultivator's Awakening without cause, yet she publicly joins her elder in rejecting coercion against the tribes. Even she is forced to kneel when the manifested deity statue's pressure intensifies, marking the limit of her authority and power. (Chapters 148–198)

Arid Triad and the dying aeon

After South Morning's devastation, Yan Luan forms a family with Fang Mu, once the child marked by Si Ma Xin's Berserker Seed. When an enemy pursues them, Fang Mu tries to remain behind while Yan Luan returns to their sick son, Lin Er. She would otherwise die beside him, but maternal duty forces her onward until Su Ming reverses the attack and gives them Origin Flowers. Yan Luan initially cannot recognize him; when Fang Mu remembers, she understands that their rescuer is the Fourth God of Berserkers. They use the medicine for their frail child, and later the summons in their blood draws Fang Mu—and implicitly their household—toward the Berserkers' holy land. (Chapters 1231–1236)

Appearance and personality

Yan Luan is a stunning woman with black hair and a red robe, closely resembling the enormous female face in Lake of Colors' mist. She can appear enchanting, but becomes grave and respectful before powers beyond her. She balances decisiveness with caution and, in later life, shows loyalty to Fang Mu and fierce concern for their child. (Chapters 148–168, 1231–1232)

Abilities and cultivation

Yan Luan is an Awakened Berserker who controls Lake of Colors' red mist, sending it into an injured messenger to restore liveliness. She can fly and survives for more than a millennium, but the deity statue's pressure forces her down and late-era enemies can overwhelm her and Fang Mu. Her displayed restoration is limited and does not establish full healing. (Chapters 148, 167–191, 1231–1232)

Her later cultivation lets her travel over the Dead Sea and respond to the collective Berserker call. The Origin Flowers that save Lin Er are supplied by Su Ming, not created by Yan Luan. (Chapters 1232–1236)

Relationships

  • Fang Mu: Her partner and the father of Lin Er; each is willing to sacrifice themselves for the other and their child.
  • Lin Er: Their frail son, whose survival motivates Yan Luan's flight and use of Su Ming's medicine.
  • Su Ming: Once an unknown power around Han Mountain, later the rescuer whose identity she recognizes with excitement.
  • Han Fei Zi: Lake of Colors disciple who accompanies Yan Luan during the tribe's Han Mountain period.

Items

  • Origin Flowers: Medicinal resources given by Su Ming to save Lin Er; Yan Luan and Fang Mu carry them home rather than owning their source.
