Xu Zhong Fan

Xu Zhong Fan is an ancient Great Sect Elder of Seven Moons Sect who declares himself Su Ming's master in Ancient Zang. The bond begins as a calculated attempt to connect his Life Matrix to a disciple who might help him reach Great Dao Paragon, but the commitment carries a binding consequence: Su's survival and success become matters he must sincerely protect. That mixture of ambition and genuine care makes him one of the people whose kindness Su remembers after discovering the world is an illusion.

Biography

A calculated bond becomes sincere protection

Xu Zhong Fan has cultivated longer than almost every active Great Sect Elder and has gathered the Ring of Great Dao, but still has not crossed into Great Dao Paragon. He takes Su Ming as a disciple without permission because linking their Life Matrices offers a chance at that advancement. Gu Tai later explains that the gamble cannot be superficial: once Xu makes the declaration, Su's success and failure become a challenge he cannot evade. His concern proves real. He watches Su's Dao Verification with excitement, gives him cultivation knowledge, and responds warmly when Su finally calls him “Teacher Xu.” (Chapters 1407–1435)

Before battle, Xu gives Su a Thanatosis Core as a last escape and joins the sect's mass mobilization. He fights a One Dao Sect Dao Paragon long enough to wound him, enabling Su to kill the enemy with a concentrated strike. Xu then leads the countercharge with Dao Han. One Dao Sect's later retaliation kills him along with Gu Tai and most of Seven Moons Sect's elders. Su chooses genuine battle rather than untouchable detachment partly because Xu's care left a lasting track in his life. (Chapters 1435–1467)

Appearance and personality

Xu Zhong Fan appears young despite being exceptionally ancient. He is ambitious and initially hasty, but not falsely affectionate: once he stakes himself on Su Ming, his worry and pride are sincere. He balances sect duty with personal protection, hesitating when escape becomes dangerous yet making decisions before the route collapses. (Chapters 1407–1467)

Abilities and cultivation

Xu Zhong Fan is a Dao Paragon who has formed the Ring of Great Dao but has not become a Great Dao Paragon. Five transformed Dao Paragons are described as his peers in power. He can sustain battle against another Dao Paragon and injure the opponent, but does not decisively overpower him alone. (Chapters 1407, 1434–1443)

His knowledge includes Dao Spirit Voices, Life Matrix bonds, formations, and treasure nourishment. These support his teaching and strategy rather than a named signature attack. His pursuit of Great Dao Paragon depends on the risky master-disciple Life Matrix link, which makes Su's fate inseparable from his own opportunity. (Chapters 1407–1435)
