Xing Ji Dao

Xing Ji Dao is a distant cultivator whose awareness can answer a connection formed through another man's memories. His attempt to pull Su Ming's soul across that link turns into a reverse invasion, costing him both his existence and the white ring he cannot fully control.

Biography

The Fifth Furnace and Morning Dao

When Su Ming looks into a black-robed man's memories, Xing Ji Dao's apparent afterimage becomes aware and addresses him from beyond Arid Triad. Dismissing the region as primitive, he uses a vortex in his eyes to dig into Su Ming's soul and drag it toward him. The action is meant to turn an accidental connection into capture, but it also opens a path back to Xing Ji Dao. (Chapter 1121)

Xing Ji Dao relies on a white ring of power far beyond what either he or the black-robed elder can truly release. Activating even indirect control consumes all his strength and places him under tremendous pressure. Su Ming exploits that exhaustion to Possess and devour him, then inherits access to the ring and Xing Ji Dao's knowledge, including the lost Mortal Refinement Art. His arrogance therefore converts a remote threat into Su Ming's resource. (Chapters 1123–1143)

Appearance and personality

Xing Ji Dao appears as a blue-robed man with a faint smile and vortex-like eyes. He is curious but condescending, immediately treating Su Ming as prey because of Arid Triad's reputation. That certainty blinds him to the danger created by his own soul connection and overtaxed treasure. (Chapter 1121)

Abilities and cultivation

Xing Ji Dao can invest an image within memory with awareness and use eye vortices to seize a distant soul. The technique requires an existing connection and can be reversed by a sufficiently strong target. (Chapter 1121)

His item-derived power comes from the white ring. He can only activate cultivation stored in it indirectly, not command its full intrinsic might. Doing so drains all his power, creates crushing pressure, and leaves him vulnerable to Possession. His learned Mortal Refinement Art can refine treasures, but the details pass to Su Ming only after Xing Ji Dao's defeat. (Chapter 1143)

  • Black-robed elder: His memories and body provide the bridge through which Xing Ji Dao first contacts Su Ming. (Chapters 1121–1143)

Items

  • White ring: An immensely powerful treasure that Xing Ji Dao can only activate indirectly and at exhausting cost. It passes into Su Ming's control after his death. (Chapters 1121–1143)
