Wu Duo

Wu Duo is a Shaman traveler whose unusual senses and knowledge make him a recurring source of information for Su Ming. He first operates among a group expecting conflict with Berserkers, yet later speaks candidly with Su about Curse mechanics. In Shaman City he recognizes Su through a disguise by smell and proposes cooperation in the dangerous Crimson Stone event.

Biography

A Shaman observer during the tribal war

Wu Duo's companions wait for him in territory they believe free of Berserkers, describing him as someone who likes killing. His later exchanges with Su complicate that reputation. Rather than immediately reducing their racial enmity to violence, Wu Duo provides information about how Curses spread through blood relations. Su uses that account to reason that such magic must have limits, since otherwise a single Shaman could curse an entire race. Wu Duo thus becomes valuable less as an ally than as a knowledgeable counterpart willing to explain the rules behind a threat. (Chapters 327–387)

Recognition and the Crimson Stone proposal

In the World of Nine Yin, Wu Duo identifies Su despite a nearly perfect disguise because Su forgot to change his smell. He openly explains the weakness instead of exposing him and proposes a partnership in the second Crimson Stone event. Wu Duo knows the gambling system, its hidden history, and the danger of competing beneath Latter Shamans; he does not demand an immediate answer because the risk is genuinely lethal. Their discussion makes Su recognize that Crimson Stones can hold living things as well as preserved herbs and treasures. (Chapters 437–450)

Appearance and personality

Wu Duo appears as a young man and commonly speaks with a faint, reassuring smile. He is observant, commercially minded, patient in negotiation, and willing to discuss uncertainty rather than promise safe rewards. Reports of his enjoyment of killing sit beside conduct that is controlled and informative, suggesting a dangerous Shaman who can still choose cooperation when interests align. (Chapters 327–450)

Abilities and cultivation

Wu Duo resembles a Thought Soothsayer, but the dossier does not confirm a formal rank or show a named divination succeeding. He says even his Thought Soothsayer Spells cannot penetrate Su Ming's disguise; his recognition instead comes from an innate sensitivity to smell. That talent detects an identity clue missed by supernatural examination, but can be countered simply by changing the overlooked scent. (Chapters 437–440)

He understands Curse transmission through bloodlines and the structure of Crimson Stone gambling, including cultivation thresholds and Relocation procedures. This is learned expertise rather than proof that he personally casts every Art he explains. His caution about Latter Shamans establishes the limit of his own position in the event. (Chapters 386–450)
