Shi Hai

Shi Hai is a white-robed elder of Wind Stream Tribe who first notices the extraordinary medicine sold by the young Su Ming. His administrative loyalty carries him through the tribe's crisis, and he later reappears among Evil Dust Sect's strongest cultivators.

Biography

Dark Mountain and the Berserker awakening

At Zhou Ran's bazaar, Shi Hai identifies a previously unseen medicine with remarkable effects and reports it respectfully to his patriarch. He later welcomes Mo Sang's party to Wind Stream Mountain and handles tribal duties under Jing Nan's direction. These acts place him at the intersection between Su Ming's hidden medicine-making and the larger tribe without showing that he discovers the maker's identity. (Chapters 25–52)

When an overwhelming hand tears through Feng Zhen's sealed space, Shi Hai and eight companions are struck down with chaotic Qi and grave injuries. Jing Nan and Wen Yan subsequently isolate themselves, leaving ordinary tribal affairs to Shi Hai and other trusted elders. His consequence is therefore increased responsibility born from catastrophe rather than a combat triumph. (Chapters 83–110)

South Morning and the Immortal conflict

Much later, Su Ming recognizes Shi Hai as the most powerful person in Evil Dust Sect. Shi Hai has reached the great circle of Ascendance and stands as one of three Apogees alongside Shen Dong. The corpus does not explain his transfer from Wind Stream to the Immortal-aligned sect, so the change in allegiance should be recorded without inventing a motive. (Chapters 642–645)

Appearance and personality

Shi Hai is a white-robed old man. He is deferential toward superiors, observant enough to recognize an unusual medicine, and dependable enough to receive control of Wind Stream's affairs during its leaders' isolation. Su Ming later remembers a prideful and arrogant manner, suggesting that status hardens his public bearing. (Chapters 25, 44, 645)

Abilities and cultivation

Early Shi Hai can fly with purple haze around his feet and survives a spatial shock that leaves his group unable to rise. His exact early realm is unstated. By his Evil Dust appearance he is explicitly at the great circle of Ascendance, high enough to be called an Apogee. No named attack is preserved, and his promotion does not establish equality with later cosmic realms. (Chapters 44, 83–84, 645)

Relationships

  • Jing Nan: Shi Hai serves under Wind Stream's Man-Elder and assumes duties when Jing Nan isolates himself. (Chapters 44, 110)
  • Su Ming: Shi Hai notices Su Ming's medicine and escorts him to Wind Stream without learning the full significance; Su Ming later recognizes him in Evil Dust Sect. (Chapters 25–52, 645)
  • Shen Dong: A fellow Ascendance Apogee in the later sect structure. (Chapter 645)

Items

  • Su Ming's medicinal pill: Shi Hai takes the unusual medicine for examination and reports its effects. It is not his creation or permanent property. (Chapters 25, 44)
