Nine-Headed Dragon
Nine-Headed Dragon denotes both the ancient beast embodied as Han Mountain Bell's Vessel Spirit and a living member of the same species beneath Black Water City. Su Ming gradually awakens six heads of the spirit and uses its soul-devouring and materialized forms, while the living beast demonstrates the species' true scale by fighting three Solar Kalpa Realm progenitors with only three heads.
Biography
Dark Mountain and the Berserker awakening
After Transcending, Su Ming uses his Branding Art and Han Mountain Bell to awaken more of its Nine-Headed Dragon spirit, reaching six active heads. The spirit becomes one of the bell's principal offensive manifestations, opposing Madam Ji's Thirteen Peach Blossom Fiend and devouring vengeful souls in the World of Nine Yin. Its instinctive hatred for the Candle Dragon draws it into a battle against the dead beast's remaining will without requiring detailed commands. (Chapters 196–467)
Repeated use carries damage and cost. Materializing the spirit requires about one ninth of Su Ming's power and can leave him unable to survive if the attack fails. Strong enemies destroy individual heads or shatter Han Mountain Bell, dispersing the spirit into fog and reducing the bell's spiritual aura. The spirit nevertheless manifests again after the fragments are restored and continues serving as both defense and attack. (Chapters 384–781)
Divine Essence and Ecang
On Black Ink Planet, Su Ming learns that the legendary beast in Black Water City's swamp is a living Nine-Headed Dragon allied by promise with Black Ink Dao. Three immense heads emerge to confront three Tai Ci Family progenitors in Solar Kalpa Realm on equal terms. Su Ming judges that the full nine-headed creature would stand among the strongest beings below Mastery Realm, although that conclusion is his assessment rather than a demonstrated nine-head battle. A descending mountain forces both sides back, and the beast remains alive at its last appearance. (Chapters 881–892)
Appearance and personality
The species has nine enormous dragon heads. The Black Water specimen's exposed heads are ten thousand feet wide and rise one hundred thousand feet into the sky. The Vessel Spirit appears as an illusory gigantic beast, with sleeping heads opening progressively. It shows pride, hostility, and species memory: it regards the Candle Dragon as a mortal enemy and attacks its remnant will of its own accord.
Abilities and cultivation
Head awakening and materialization
The Han Mountain spirit's accessible power depends on how many heads Su Ming can awaken through Branding Art and cultivation. Before Transcendence he can wake one; he later reaches six, while a seventh remains beyond his supported power. Full materialization gives the spirit an independent combat form but consumes roughly one ninth of the summoner's power, making failure potentially fatal. Damage can explode awakened heads and force the spirit back into the bell. (Chapters 196, 379–384, 560)
Soul suppression and devouring
The sixth head inhales vengeful souls and white spirits, disrupting mass spiritual attacks and storing or later expelling what it consumed. Its roar can frighten lesser spirits into retreat. This specialization does not make it universally dominant: the last Peach Blossom Fiend pierces its diminished form, and overwhelmingly strong blows can shatter the bell supporting it. (Chapters 389, 453–458, 586)
Living beast strength
The Black Water Nine-Headed Dragon fights through individual heads at tremendous range. Three heads match three Solar Kalpa Realm cultivators, while all nine are not shown together. Its alliance with Black Ink Dao rests on a promise, but the exact terms and its formal realm are not provided. (Chapters 890–892)

- Candle Dragon: Racial mortal enemy whose remaining will triggers the spirit's instinctive aggression.
- Small Snake: Its Candle Dragon lineage makes it wary of the Nine-Headed Dragon manifestation.
