Nian Yin

Nian Yin is one of four cultivators who operate the Xuan Family's supreme-treasure body alongside Xuan Shang, Yun You, and Hua Yu. His instinct to flee from overwhelming danger distinguishes him from the more cautious members of the group, but dependence on Su Ming draws him into the fifth kiln. There he is captured and transformed into a ferocious spirit before dying in the struggle for Old Ya Mu's legacy.

Biography

Flight before an overwhelming ally

Nian Yin and Yun You attempt to flee after feeling the malice and pressure released by Su Ming, whose strength makes resistance seem impossible. Even after the others stop, Nian Yin coughs blood to drive Fleeing Blood and continues alone. Xu Hui blocks him with an unseen barrier and reveals Lunar Kalpa power, forcing the escape to end. He thereafter remains in the shared treasure body, where Su Ming's later feats overturn his estimate of the man he feared and make the group increasingly dependent on him. (Chapters 962–998)

Captivity beneath Old Ya Mu's mountain

Inside the fifth kiln, Nian Yin helps sustain the supreme-treasure body, but the departure of its strongest occupants reduces its attack power to roughly Solar Kalpa level. The four operators cannot safely advance without Su Ming, so they panic when he considers leaving. Their dependence does not save Nian Yin from Old Ya Mu: he is captured and changed into a boil-covered ferocious spirit. During the legacy trial he fights for a protective circle, but another spirit devours his head. His remaining manifestation is later among the captives whose bodies wither as Old Ya Mu extracts their life force for Su Ming's opportunity. (Chapters 1002–1016)

Appearance and personality

The dossier provides little stable physical detail before Nian Yin's forced transformation. As a ferocious spirit he has a monstrous, boil-covered form, which is an imposed condition rather than his natural appearance. He is highly survival-oriented: he spends blood to escape when companions surrender, then accepts cooperation when the difference in power becomes undeniable. His final frenzy reflects the lethal rules of the legacy trial rather than a fully explained change in personality. (Chapters 962, 1009–1016)

Abilities and cultivation

Nian Yin's personal realm is not stated precisely. His most explicit individual technique is Fleeing Blood, which converts a blood sacrifice into an exponential burst of speed. It lets him travel rapidly beyond his companions but costs him blood and fails against Xu Hui's higher-realm spatial restraint. (Chapter 962)

Within the Xuan Family treasure, Nian Yin contributes to a composite body rather than displaying that body's strength as his own. With key participants absent, the remaining four operators can produce only Solar Kalpa-level offense, and even full effort is estimated to top out around complete Solar Kalpa. Old Ya Mu's later transformation gives Nian Yin a ferocious body capable of fighting other captive spirits, but it is forced, temporary, and ends with his death. (Chapters 998–1016)

Relationships

  • Xuan Shang, Yun You, and Hua Yu: Fellow operators whose cooperation is required to sustain the supreme-treasure body. Nian Yin is the last of them to abandon the initial escape.
  • Su Ming: Initially an overwhelming threat, then the indispensable combatant the four need in the fifth kiln.
  • Xu Hui: Stops Nian Yin's blood-fueled flight without killing him and forces his submission to the group.

Items

  • Xuan Family supreme treasure: Nian Yin is one operator within its composite body. Its combined output is equipment- and formation-derived, not his independent cultivation.
