Ji Yun Hai

Ji Yun Hai was a gifted Soul Catcher whose experiments in Curse destroyed his wife's tribe and ultimately led Madam Ji to kill him. His corpse remains formidable: first controlled by Madam Ji, then refined by Su Ming into a clone, it disappears in the World of Nine Yin and later returns as a self-aware True Guard with Ji Yun Hai's surviving divine sense.

Biography

Freezing Sky and the Ninth Summit

Born to Heaven Follower Tribe, Ji Yun Hai survives its destruction and develops an unusual Soul Catcher path. He refines the Heaven Follower Insect into an undying swarm, creates the Nine Colored Poison Fog, and reconstructs an incomplete ancient Curse through repeated experimentation. Those experiments devastate Ghost Impregnation Tribe and subject Madam Ji to sixty years of curses. She eventually kills him, but preserves and commands his dried corpse. (Chapters 384–390)

When Madam Ji sends the corpse against Su Ming, it has fallen from Latter to Medial Shaman strength and has no apparent intelligence. Its body and insects remain so dangerous that Su Ming accepts injury to seal it inside Han Mountain Bell. After Madam Ji dies, he refines the corpse into his own clone. The clone's beetles support disguise and combat, but it disappears during the upheaval surrounding the Candle Dragon's remains and cannot be found before Su Ming leaves the World of Nine Yin. (Chapters 385–498)

Divine Essence and Ecang

The ancient bronze sword carries the missing clone to True Sacred Yin World. By the time it enters the Barren Lands as a black-robed True Guard, it has intelligence, dense venom, and the power of a Lord of a World Plane. Su Ming realizes that a wisp of Ji Yun Hai's own divine sense had survived inside the corpse all along. Ji Yun Hai feels his former master's call but privately intends to reverse their roles. Their last sourced encounter ends in observation across a forbidden region rather than a resolved struggle, leaving the sentient clone alive. (Chapters 800–812)

Appearance and personality

As a corpse, Ji Yun Hai is dried and altered beyond easy recognition, with gray eyes and a rotten stench. As a later True Guard he wears broad black robes; black patterns cover his exposed skin and bald head, and his eyes seem lifeless despite concealed murderous intent. The living man's actions, preserved through Madam Ji's account, show obsessive cruelty in pursuit of Curse. His surviving divine sense is patient, hostile, and confident enough to conceal itself through refinement until it can seek independence.

Abilities and cultivation

Soul Catcher cultivation and Curse

Ji Yun Hai was regarded as the best Soul Catcher below Hollow Shaman and the Latter Soul Catcher most likely to advance. He derived a working Curse from an incomplete chant and an ancient artifact; unlike Madam Ji, he was said capable of offering to a power predating the Shaman and Berserker peoples. His research remains incomplete and morally catastrophic, and death lowers the puppet body's active cultivation to Medial Shaman before later growth. (Chapters 385–390)

Heaven Follower Insects and poison

His personally refined black beetles are undying Heaven Follower Insects linked to him like blood. They form a threatening sea, can cover a body to alter its apparent build, and later contribute dense venom and battle power to the clone. Han Mountain Bell counters them by severing their connection to Ji Yun Hai; they then drop inert, showing dependence on that bond. (Chapters 385, 439, 804)

Corpse-clone body

Su Ming's refinement turns the dead body into a controllable clone, but neither he nor Madam Ji detects the surviving wisp of original divine sense. After leaving on the bronze sword, the body grows to World Plane level and becomes intelligent. This is a reconstructed corpse state, not Ji Yun Hai's original living cultivation, and its full route of advancement is not supplied. (Chapters 800–812)

Relationships

  • Madam Ji: Wife, victim, and eventual killer. She uses his corpse and derivative Curse after his death.
  • Su Ming: Seals and refines the corpse, believing it a clone until the surviving divine sense later reveals its own ambition.

Items

  • Ancient Curse artifact: Enabled Ji Yun Hai to reconstruct the incomplete Curse; its precise original form is not fully described.
  • Blood-red ring: Source and focus of the Curse, later inherited by Madam Ji and taken by Su Ming.
  • Heaven Follower Insects: Living products of his refinement, blood-linked to his corpse rather than ordinary equipment.
