Dao Fei Feng

Dao Fei Feng is a senior direct descendant of Morning Dao Sect who waits to intimidate the returning Dao Kong into surrendering his Dynast title. Backed by a large, high-level retinue and a protective strange egg, he mistakes institutional seniority for decisive superiority. Su Ming orders his death, and the resulting execution becomes an early warning to the other Dynast competitors.

Biography

The Fifth Furnace and Morning Dao

Dao Fei Feng intercepts Su Ming's party while eating a beast bone and casually using a Constellation Robe as a cloth. He invokes his age and acquaintance with Dao Kong's ancestors, insults Dao Kong's parents, and demands obeisance. His purpose is political intimidation: he has waited for the returning claimant in the belief that overwhelming force will make him relinquish his Dynast status without a real contest. Su responds by ordering that Dao Fei Feng's head be hung from the ship's bow. (Chapter 1051)

The confidence initially appears rational. Dao Fei Feng is between Lunar Kalpa and Solar Kalpa Realm; most of his followers are late World Plane cultivators, three are in Lunar Kalpa Realm, and the strange egg beneath him provides protection. Yet Flame Fiends' Progenitor eliminates the retinue almost instantly. The egg barely saves Dao Fei Feng from the first fiery palm, leaving him pale and aware that he has gravely misjudged the opponent. (Chapter 1052)

He retreats and appeals first to family rules and then to an order from the Sect Elder Chamber. Neither argument alters Su's command, and his defenses cannot reverse the imbalance. Dao Fei Feng is killed and his head taken as ordered. News of the death spreads through Morning Dao territory, drawing attention toward Dao Kong and reshaping how other claimants assess the returning Dynast; later disciples still cite it when deciding whether Su is vulnerable without his followers. (Chapters 1052–1068)

Appearance and personality

Dao Fei Feng is an older, imposing man introduced chewing through beast bone. Using a valuable-looking Constellation Robe to wipe grease from his hands visually expresses his contempt for ordinary restraint. He is proud, coarse, and insulting while protected, but becomes anxious and legalistic as soon as his followers die. His switch from threats to appeals shows that his boldness is tied closely to numerical and institutional advantage.

Abilities and cultivation

Dao Fei Feng's cultivation is explicitly placed between the Lunar Kalpa and Solar Kalpa Realms. He can release an awe-inspiring presence and commands a formidable group of followers, but the scene offers no named personal divine ability. His practical strength therefore comes from a combination of realm, retinue, political authority, and the strange egg rather than a demonstrated signature technique. (Chapters 1051–1052)

The egg releases a gentle protective power that saves him from Flame Fiends' Progenitor's first palm. That defense is limited: it prevents the immediate blow from being fatal but does not let Dao Fei Feng fight on equal terms or escape the renewed pursuit. The white Sect Elder plate represents authority, not enough force to compel Su's obedience. His death establishes the gulf between his impressive conventional resources and Su Ming's Life Realm follower. (Chapter 1052)

Relationships

  • Su Ming / Dao Kong: Dao Fei Feng sees the returned Dynast as a claimant to intimidate; Su treats his insults as grounds for execution.
  • Flame Fiends' Progenitor: Su Ming's follower destroys Dao Fei Feng's force and carries out the lethal order.
  • Xu Hui: She recognizes Dao Fei Feng and begins to explain his identity, but Su Ming acts before the introduction matters.
  • Morning Dao rivals: His death redirects their calculations and makes Dao Kong a focus of both fear and opportunistic scrutiny.

Items

Dao Fei Feng possesses a white plate bearing an order from the Sect Elder Chamber and stands on a strange giant egg whose gentle power blocks one fatal strike. A Constellation Robe is beside him at his introduction, though the text shows him using it dismissively rather than activating it as a treasure.
