Chou Nu

Chou Nu is a short-tempered guest of Tranquil East Tribe and the follower who guards Nan Tian during the dangerous contest for Han Mountain Ancestor's legacy. His suspicion and anger conceal fear, but his actions also show practical loyalty: he saves another guest, protects his injured leader, and helps secure what Nan Tian needs to recover.

Biography

Dark Mountain and the Berserker awakening

After more than half of Tranquil East's guests die, Chou Nu rescues Dong Fang Hua from danger and recruits him to gather medicinal herbs. Chou Nu himself remains with the injured Nan Tian, promising that successful assistance will earn Dong Fang Hua an introduction and eventual protection out of the region. When Dong Fang Hua returns with Su Ming, Chou Nu distrusts the stranger, tests his guest plate, and demands ten herbs before accepting his identity. His hostility is therefore partly a security measure around an injured superior, even though it is sharpened by his established temper. (Chapters 152–153)

Chou Nu later follows Nan Tian through the cracks leading toward Han Mountain Ancestor's sealed isolation grounds. Within, the environment confronts each entrant with what they need most; Su Ming reads terror beneath Chou Nu's angry expression and concludes that Chou Nu lacks the rage he outwardly displays. Once the outer seal breaks, Chou Nu stays at Nan Tian's side and follows him through the newly revealed entrance. His last recorded choice continues the same pattern as his first: he subordinates his own path to his leader's pursuit. (Chapters 158–160)

Appearance and personality

Chou Nu is described through a fierce, quick-tempered demeanor, cold sneers, spiteful looks, and a vicious glare. He is suspicious of unfamiliar people and prepared to threaten them. The trial, however, exposes fear underneath his anger, suggesting that his aggression is at least partly compensatory. That weakness coexists with loyalty and courage: he survives conditions that kill many other guests, saves Dong Fang Hua, and guards Nan Tian while the latter is wounded.

Abilities and cultivation

The dossier does not state Chou Nu's cultivation realm or name a personal Art. He has enough physical control to catch Su Ming's forcefully thrown guest plate without moving, and enough battlefield competence to rescue Dong Fang Hua and survive the journey into the sealed grounds. These demonstrations support strength and experience, but not a specific realm. His most important limitation is psychological: the isolation-ground trial reveals terror beneath his cultivated anger. He also operates as a subordinate rather than an independent power, relying on Nan Tian's eventual recovery for the promised escort out. (Chapters 152–158)

Relationships

  • Nan Tian: Chou Nu is Nan Tian's follower and protector. He gathers support for the injured man and follows him immediately into the ancestor's isolation grounds. (Chapters 152–160)
  • Dong Fang Hua: Chou Nu saves him, then gives him the risky task of collecting herbs in exchange for access to Nan Tian's protection. (Chapters 152–153)
  • Su Ming: Chou Nu initially distrusts and threatens Su Ming, testing his credentials rather than welcoming him. They later enter the same sealed region, but no enduring alliance is established. (Chapters 153–160)

Items

Chou Nu handles Su Ming's Tranquil East guest plate while checking his identity, but does not own it. No personal weapon, treasure, or permanently associated item is established in the dossier. (Chapter 153)
