Chen Xin
Chen Xin is the daughter of Dark Mountain Tribe's leader, Bei Ling's intended wife, and a childhood friend whom Su Ming regards as a younger sister. Her ordinary care for Su Ming's empty home and her place among the migrating survivors make her part of the family he remembers and ultimately restores.
Biography
Dark Mountain and the Berserker awakening
While Su Ming is away, Chen Xin quietly keeps his house clean. As the leader's daughter she is expected to marry the future patriarch, and her family arranges a match with Bei Ling. Childhood affection for Su Ming contributes to Bei Ling's jealousy, but Chen Xin matures out of that early attachment while Su Ming consistently sees her as family. She remains gentle toward him even when the two young men grow distant. (Chapters 17–43)
During Dark Mountain's flight, Bei Ling protects Chen Xin and insists on staying behind when the tribe needs a rear guard. Her tears reveal the cost imposed on noncombatants by the adults' decisions. Later visions and trials place Chen Xin among the people whose fate Su Ming cannot stop revisiting; he repeatedly asks whether she survived, underscoring her role in the home he lost rather than granting her new agency outside that memory. (Chapters 85–183)
Ancient Zang and the final truth
Near the end, Su Ming sees Chen Xin among the familiar figures of Dark Mountain as memory and reality converge. After he turns preserved Brands back into life, she awakens beside Bei Ling, Mo Sang, and the rest of the tribe at Dark Mountain's foot. Everyone is present except Su Ming and Lei Chen. Her restoration confirms survival in the remade world, though the narrative does not detail her later life. (Chapters 1458, 1481)
Appearance and personality
Chen Xin is a young woman with prominent eyes described as clear as calm water and expressive of innocence. She is warm, dutiful, and hesitant when caught between Su Ming and Bei Ling. Her maintenance of Su Ming's home shows care through quiet work rather than declaration. (Chapters 17–20)
Abilities and cultivation
No cultivation realm or named combat Art is demonstrated for Chen Xin. During the Nightwing attack and migration she relies on Bei Ling and the tribe's Berserkers for protection. Her final return is caused by Su Ming's restoration of life Brands, not a resurrection ability of her own. (Chapters 26, 85–97, 1481)
