Bai Feng
Bai Feng is one of Phoenix Sect's two Sacred Ladies and the original whose clone became Bai Ling. She collaborates with Saint Defier's invaders in pursuit of ascension, stands against Su Ming, and exhausts her life protecting herself from a World-power catastrophe. Su Ming saves her final days out of sentiment, after which her soul is drawn into his Mortal Refinement of the Saint Defier white ring.
Biography
Divine Essence and Ecang
Bai Feng is first identified indirectly as Phoenix Sect's other Sacred Lady alongside Xu Hui. She had participated in a secret plan while a sect defector was absent, and Dao Kong covets the sect's ancient inheritance associated with the Sacred Ladies. This establishes her high office and involvement in larger schemes before she enters the action personally. (Chapter 895)
The Fifth Furnace and Morning Dao
At the Immortals' Union, Bai Feng helps operate the pillar linking True Morning Dao World to Saint Defier and directs soul threads intended to replace selected cultivators. She regards the local masses with contempt and accepts subordination to stronger Saint Defier figures because she longs to ascend and believes that goal worth any sacrifice. Her path directly opposes Su Ming, whom she and her allies target without recognizing his full plan. (Chapters 1113–1136)
When the released power of the World devastates the Union, Bai Feng invokes Phoenix Art Cocoon and then an irreversible Forbidden Art that burns her life to sustain it. The defense lasts for days but ages her into a dying old woman and leaves less than a month of life. Su Ming takes her away in the white ring, motivated by memory rather than reconciliation. Near death, Bai Feng admits the emptiness of her pursuit and finds greater value in the memories inherited from her clone. She dies while Su Ming performs Mortal Refinement; her soul is swept into its nine cycles, loses ordinary memory, and finally becomes part of the ring's spirit. (Chapters 1137–1160)
Appearance and personality
Bai Feng is initially an extraordinarily beautiful woman in white with an aloof expression. She can present precisely judged humility or bashfulness to win powerful patrons, while treating weaker cultivators as beneath notice. Ambition defines her choices: she is willing to abandon everything for ascension. The life-burning art strips away youth and leaves her white-haired, wrinkled, and frail; facing death, ambition gives way to regret, freedom, and affection for memories once dismissed as belonging to a clone.
Abilities and cultivation
Phoenix Sect arts
Bai Feng forms seals that manifest thousands of enormous eyes around a target region, using them as a large surveillance or focusing formation. Her Phoenix Art Cocoon is a once-in-a-lifetime ultimate defense able to withstand the World-power whirlwind temporarily. Neither technique makes her equal to the Saint Defier Almighties she serves. (Chapters 1130–1138)
Life-burning Forbidden Art
To keep the failing cocoon intact, Bai Feng uses her life as fuel and multiplies its support. The art extends survival for days under otherwise fatal pressure, but it is explicitly irreversible: it consumes her lifespan, destroys her youth, and leaves her unable to recover. The protection therefore delays rather than prevents death. (Chapter 1142)
Soul threads and formations
Bai Feng participates in the pillar's plan to send soul threads into chosen bodies and helps maintain the Saint Defier operation. These powers depend on the larger formation and its collaborators; the source does not establish that she can replace targets unaided. (Chapters 1123–1134)
Ring-spirit state
After her body dies, Bai Feng's soul is involuntarily drawn into Mortal Refinement without the seals required to preserve memory and intelligence. It passes through illusory reincarnations and becomes incorporated into the white ring's spirit. This is a posthumous, item-bound state, not her surviving personal cultivation. (Chapters 1146–1157)
Relationships
- Su Ming: Enemy linked to her clone's past. He saves her final days and later shares nine reincarnations with her soul, ending their unresolved fate.
- Bai Ling: Bai Feng's clone. Its memories survive within the original and become precious to her at death.
- Xu Hui: Fellow Phoenix Sect Sacred Lady whose ancient inheritance Dao Kong seeks.
Items
- Saint Defier white ring: A supreme treasure used in the invasion. It rescues Bai Feng's dying body, becomes Su Ming's after refinement, and ultimately contains her soul within its spirit.
