Bai Chang Zai
Bai Chang Zai is a feared guardian stationed at Sky Mist Barrier. His reputation among nearby Shamans and the projection of his Divine Clone establish the military pressure sustaining the border, while his final appearance places him among the lives restored through Su Ming's long search.
Biography
Freezing Sky and the Ninth Summit
Bai Chang Zai confronts a retreating old Shaman through an illusory, white-armored Divine Clone. The Shaman recognizes him immediately as the terrifying entity stationed on Sky Mist Barrier but also realizes the projection is weaker than the true body and cannot easily kill him inside Shaman territory. The encounter shows Bai Chang Zai enforcing the border through reputation and remote presence rather than personally crossing into hostile land. (Chapter 267)
Later views of the Barrier and its wars preserve Bai Chang Zai as part of the larger conflict that Su Ming observes on his road through Freezing Sky. The supplied evidence does not isolate a later command decision or death, so the intervening fate of his original body remains sparse. (Chapters 357–371)
Ancient Zang and the final truth
In the final world created after Su Ming's search through cycles of life and death, Bai Chang Zai wakes and stares ahead in a daze. He mumbles while unable to remember exactly what happened. Restoration therefore returns his existence but not necessarily complete continuity of memory; no later role or cultivation state is described. (Chapter 1481)
Appearance and personality
Bai Chang Zai's projected form wears white armor, has an indistinct face, and shows aloof eyes filled with killing intent. The brevity of his direct scene supports a stern military bearing but not a detailed private personality. His restored confusion is the only glimpse beyond that role. (Chapters 267, 1481)
Abilities and cultivation
Bai Chang Zai can manifest a Divine Clone at range. The clone carries enough presence to terrify experienced Shamans, but it is illusory, formed with white mist, and explicitly lacks the true body's full killing power in Shaman territory. This geographic and embodiment limit matters: the projection threatens and intercepts but cannot guarantee a kill. (Chapter 267)
His exact realm and the true body's combat Arts are not specified. Final restoration does not confirm whether his former cultivation returns intact. (Chapter 1481)
