Bob

Bob is an American Elder Lord player, longtime tabletop role-player, and the warrior representative of the four-person group F4. Inspired by a recording of Crockta defending Chesswood, he leads his friends into the battle and uses an intentionally theatrical sword persona. When Crockta later faces the empire alone, Bob recognizes that the orc’s convictions are real, buys rapid-travel support, and returns with F4 to fight beside him. (Chapters 45, 47, 50, 171, and 173)

Biography

The South and the Heaven and Earth Conflict

Bob hosts his old friends Joseph, Elia, and Gary at his home, where four virtual-reality capsules stand side by side. The group has played tabletop role-playing games together since youth and is known in the American community for “intrinsic” role-play. After Bob shows them Laney’s video of Crockta resisting the clans at Chesswood, they decide that the day’s scenario will be four warriors saving the endangered village. Bob’s choice is playful in form but consequential in action: F4 enters Elder Lord to discover whether Crockta survived and to continue his defense if he did not. (Chapter 45)

At Chesswood, Bob acts as F4’s warrior while the others fill their chosen adventuring roles. His sword helps interrupt the Napoleon Clan’s gathered magic, and the group stands with villagers who choose to defend their own homes. Bob repeatedly calls his shining sword “X-Geiger” and invents grand claims about its thirst for justice, but the group’s attack is genuine and helps halt the clans’ advance. After the victory, he represents F4 in thanking Crockta; Crockta notices that the blade’s supposed vibration is only Bob lightly shaking it with his wrist. Much later, Bob learns that Crockta is again opposing the southern empire. He visits the real-world broker Rodríguez to purchase a Haste scroll connected with Reynolds, joining a wider rush for rapid travel toward the conflict. He goes with his friends rather than alone. When he sees Crockta confront the army despite facing true death, Bob becomes ashamed that F4 has hesitated over injuries even though users possess another life. He calls the group, they use the scroll and horses to hurry to the battlefield, and they arrive before the encirclement ends. (Chapters 171 and 173)

F4 enters beside the fallen White Knight Andre, declares its support for Crockta and Espada’s freedom, and fights the imperial knights. Bob initially begins another speech about X-Geiger, but accepts Joseph’s reminder that the scene is being broadcast worldwide and turns to the battle. His latest confirmed state is alive and fighting as the conflict expands with further reinforcements.
