Red Phoenix Bow
The Red Phoenix Bow is Grid's myth-rated reproduction of Pangea's lost original, not the missing original itself. Grid sells the reproduction to Jishuka; its single sacred-beast attribute supplies destructive fire, cold resistance, and the Fly Up! manifestation, while later Red Phoenix Breaths restore sealed power within the weapon. (Chapters 529, 543, 563, 667, 778, 961, 1169, 1233, and 1756)
History
Reproducing Pangea's lost bow
Pangea's blacksmithing contest asks competitors to reproduce an ancient bow based on the red phoenix. No design survives, and previous entrants fail to create a perfect version. Grid identifies white phosphorus wood as a suitable fire-aligned material and believes his ability to cut it gives him a unique chance to recreate the lost treasure. The production process teaches him to remain calm under pressure and helps unlock later events in Pangea. (Chapters 529, 543, 563, and 633)
Chapter 543 explicitly distinguishes the still-missing original Red Phoenix Bow from “Grid's Red Phoenix Bow (Reproduction).” Grid loses the available lead to the original when he kills Arube instead of capturing him, so the original's whereabouts and custody remain unresolved in the supplied evidence. The completed reproduction receives a myth rating and is sold to Jishuka, adding substantially to Grid's assets. It becomes her established weapon and remains recognizable enough that Grid can clone it during a National Competition battle. The clone can use Fly Up!, but its effect remains constrained by the targets present in Grid's field of view. (Chapters 543, 667, 778, and 961)
Strengthening Jishuka's reproduction
Grid later gives a Strengthened Red Phoenix Breath to the version called the Red Phoenix Bow where the Spirit of a Sacred Creature Resides. The bow accepts it, restores a large part of its sealed power, and counts the strengthened material as multiple ordinary breaths. Jishuka continues using the bow to support Grid in later battles. (Chapters 1169 and 1756)
Abilities and properties
- Myth rating and fire specialization: The bow is a myth-rated, single-attribute weapon rather than an all-purpose item. Its identity and destructive power center on the red phoenix's fire. (Chapters 529 and 667)
- Fly Up!: The bow can call a smaller manifestation of the red phoenix. A cloned version of the bow reproduces the skill, with effectiveness influenced by the enemies visible to the user. (Chapters 961 and 1169)
- Sacred warmth: As the bow's owner, Jishuka does not feel severe cold as strongly as people around her. The scene attributes this resistance to her ownership of the bow. (Chapter 1233)
- Restorable sealed power: Red Phoenix Breaths can be given to the spirit-bearing bow. A strengthened breath is accepted and restores more sealed power than a normal contribution. (Chapter 1169)
- Support use: Jishuka uses the bow while helping block an advance and protect Grid's recovery. The chapter demonstrates continued battlefield use, not a separate healing property in the bow. (Chapter 1756)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Pangea | Historical home of the lost original Red Phoenix Bow. The original is distinct from Grid's reproduction, and its later whereabouts are unresolved. (Chapters 529 and 543) |
| Grid | Maker and initial owner of the reproduction. He sells it to Jishuka, later interacts with it to strengthen its spirit, and can create a temporary clone; neither later act returns permanent ownership to him. (Chapters 529, 633, 778, 961, and 1169) |
| Jishuka | Purchaser and continuing named owner of Grid's reproduction through the latest supplied scene. (Chapters 667, 778, 1233, and 1756) |
