Mercedes's White Tiger Sword
The Mercedes's White Tiger Sword is an earth-aligned divine sword formally named the World Crushing Sword of the Noble White Tiger, designed by Grid with Kraugel and entrusted to Mercedes, who exploits its stone manifestations and sudden increases in weight as part of her forceful knightly style. (Chapters 798, 819, and 1114)
History
Grid's myth sword and its transfer to Mercedes
The sword first appears among Grid's weapons, carried by a God Hand during the fight with Gyuratan. Grid designed it with Kraugel, and its demanding use condition requires a wielder ranked among the top three of a sword-capable class. (Chapters 798 and 819)
Grid throws the sword to Mercedes after recognizing that the legendary knight should satisfy its condition. She immediately activates its earth power against a bear-wolf and thereafter becomes its established wielder, pairing the weapon's combat-oriented design with her direct, uninterrupted movements. (Chapters 819, 825, and 1114)
Same-name boundary and late use
This page is restricted to the myth-rated sword transferred to Mercedes; Kraugel's distinct growth-type weapon with the same shortened name is outside its evidence and custody chain. Mercedes continues carrying her sword in hell and against Exile, and it remains identified as the old weapon she needs to replace by Chapter 1807. (Chapters 819, 1662, 1702, and 1807)
Abilities and properties
- The sword can raise heavy stone pillars beneath a target, using the white tiger's earth-aligned power to launch or obstruct enemies. (Chapters 819 and 1114)
- It can abruptly increase its own weight while pressing against another weapon. Mercedes uses the change to break an opponent's posture before stone pillars follow the opening. (Chapter 1114)
- Its broader earth response can shake the ground and disturb the surrounding terrain, making it a battlefield-control weapon as well as a blade. (Chapter 1114)
- The sword's exceptional material quality lets it withstand repeated clashes and pressure, but it is not indestructible: Pluto's divinity begins eroding the blade from within. (Chapters 1662 and 1702)
- Mercedes's dramatic-victory sword energy can fill the weapon and intensify its performance, but that sword energy belongs to Mercedes rather than being a permanent innate property of the sword. (Chapter 1662)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Grid | Designer, maker, and initial custodian. He first deploys the sword through a God Hand, then entrusts it to Mercedes. (Chapters 798 and 819) |
| Mercedes | Principal and latest documented wielder. Her ability to meet the restrictive use condition enables the transfer, and Grid still treats the sword as her current but aging equipment by Chapter 1807. Kraugel's same-name growth weapon does not interrupt this custody chain or transfer its feats to Mercedes's sword. (Chapters 819, 825, 1662, 1702, and 1807) |
