Holy Light Set — Overgeared

The Holy Light Set is a legendary adamantium ensemble acquired by Grid after the defeat of Pope Drevigo, comprising armor, gloves, and a crown whose defensive, restorative, combat, and dignity-oriented effects kept individual pieces useful long after the set's introduction. History

Spoils of Drevigo's defeat

Grid obtained the Holy Light Armor, Holy Light Gloves, and Holy Light Crown from the aftermath of the battle with the corrupt Pope Drevigo. The crown was later identified as a work Pagma had made for the fifth pope, Franz. (Chapter 126) (Chapter 860)

Continued use and the crown's redesign

The set remained relevant across several generations of Grid's equipment. Its armor could be left ragged and bloodied by severe fighting without disappearing from his inventory, while the gloves were still selected when Grid wanted a chance to trigger their distinctive chained attack. Grid later disassembled and reassembled the crown to reach complete understanding of it, then used that knowledge as the basis for a new crown. Much later, he still changed into the Holy Light Armor when he wanted to reduce the danger posed by Baal's magic. (Chapter 860) (Chapter 1669)

Abilities and properties

The crown provides defense, intelligence, and dignity. Equipping all three pieces adds further defense and health, making the set more than a collection of unrelated drops. (Chapter 860)
The armor raises health regeneration by 300 percent and remains useful as protection against powerful magic. (Chapter 385) (Chapter 1669)
The gloves have a chance to activate Five Joint Attacks. The effect can produce a sudden sequence of blows, but Grid cannot rely on it to trigger whenever he needs it. (Chapter 199) (Chapter 414) (Chapter 522)
The crown's large dignity bonus can reinforce effects that scale with dignity, as shown when Grid combined it with the Great Lord's Sword. (Chapter 627) (Chapter 860)
