Book of Wisdom

The Book of Wisdom is a mythic skill book left among Judar's keepsakes and learned by Grid, granting Study magic that can temporarily analyze almost any target and attempt to evolve it. (Chapter 1952)

History

Judar's keepsake and immediate study

Grid finds the Book of Wisdom among the extraordinary keepsakes of Judar, God of Wisdom, together with the Book of Leadership and other divine artifacts. He learns every skill book in the collection and immediately tests the Book of Wisdom's spell on Trauka's scales and bones. (Chapter 1952)

From skill book to retained magic

The physical skill book is consumed through learning, but its magic remains part of Grid's abilities. He later uses Study to research and improve the Tomb of the Gods, enabling the enormous structure to be restored after cultivators destroy it. (Chapters 1952 and 2002)

Abilities and properties

• The book teaches magic that places a target under Study for a period of time and searches for a possibility that the target can evolve. (Chapter 1952)
• Study has no categorical restriction on its target: it may be applied to a building, spell, skill, item, monster, or civilization. (Chapter 1952)
• The closer a target already is to completion, the less likely Study is to evolve it. Powerful equipment can therefore be eligible while still having a low chance of improvement. (Chapter 1952)
• A studied target becomes unusable for the study period, which Grid estimates can last from two weeks to two months. This opportunity cost leads him to postpone studying his nearly complete equipped items. (Chapter 1952)
• The book has a divine use condition: only a god can learn it. Its successful use on the Tomb of the Gods shows that the learned magic can affect structures on a vast scale. (Chapters 1952 and 2002)
